In The county of Volusia, in Florida, in The United States of America is a city called Ormond Beach. 2004 census of the population in Ormond was 37,929. The Tomoka State Park is situated on Ormond Beach.

Ormond Beach used to originally be under the possession of the Timucuan Indians. War and disease soon killed the tribe. Ormond Beach is named after James Ormond I, a (Anglo - Irish - Scotch) sea captain accredited by the King of Spain Ferdinand VII to bring people coming to settle in Florida to this region of Florida. Ormond had worked as a ship captain in the Wars against Napoleon, he had worked for Britain and Spain and was paid for his help to Spain by the King of Spain.

Florida participated in a great flourish in tourism after the Civil War. Ormond became popular because of its hard, white beach. The rich came looking for comfort from northern winters.

The Ormond Hotel was opened by John Anderson and James Downing Price on the 1st of January, 1888. Henry Flagler bought the hotel in 1890 and made it bigger as to house 600 guests. It became part of a order of Gilded Age hotels providing for passengers on board Henry's Florida East Coast Railway. The hotel became a well-known landmark and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, the hotel was demolished in 1992.

On the compacted sand from the South of Ormond to Daytona Beach is where a number of the first automobile races were held, this all commenced in 1902. Initiators in the industry, like Ransom Olds and Alexander Winton, tested their creations. The timing of the races was started by the American Automobile Association in 1903, and the beach was then tagged "The Birthplace of Speed." The city's name was to be changed in 1949 from New Britain to Ormond Beach. From the 2000 census, there were 36,301 people living in the city.
