While on a recent mini vacation, my family and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee for a few days. Located right off the main strip in Pigeon Forge, the location of this hotel is very convenient whether you are going shopping, exploring the area, or taking a trip to Dollywood. You are literally in walking distance from restaurants and stores and are in short driving distance from Dollywood, other local attractions, the Smokey Mountains, and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Tickets for Dollywood, Dixie Stampede, Black Bear Jamboree, Smith Family Theater, and many other local attractions can be purchased at the front desk of this hotel saving you time and money.

There is more than one Holiday Inn Express in Pigeon Forge and this particular one is located at 308 Henderson Chapel Road. Also, this particular hotel has now become completely smoke free.

We had reserved two rooms and wanted adjoining rooms however we were given rooms that were across the hall from one another and not adjoining. When we explained our original request for adjoining rooms to the front desk they quickly accommodated, made changes, and gave us the adjoining rooms we desired.

The hotel offers a free continental breakfast from seven to ten in the morning. Although the selection is limited, it is still nice if you want to just grab a bagel, some fruit, or juice.

This hotel also has an indoor swimming pool that is open daily until eleven o'clock at night. In the same area as the pool is a hot tub.

The rooms are spacious and clean. There is free wireless internet service available for guests although they do not have a business center if you needed access to a computer but did not bring a laptop. However, I needed something printed, asked the front desk about it, and they were able to print it for me.

The staff of this hotel was courteous and friendly. During our stay, we did have a problem with our air conditioner (it wasn't cooling) the second night we were staying at the hotel but they fixed it very quickly, with in an hour of us reporting the problem.

I do have one minor complaint though. The elevators were not exactly easily accessible to those in a wheelchair because of the location of the trash cans. The trash cans were placed in between the two elevators right below the buttons. My son who is in wheelchair could not get to the buttons because of the position of the trash cans. This is something that could easily be fixed though and something that I mentioned to the front desk at the end of our stay.

I've stayed in many Holiday Inns over the years and this is probably one of the nicer ones.
