The Holocaust: An Elaborate Lie or Historical Fact?

The Holocaust is a historical event taught in history classes throughout the world. Some people however seem to believe it did not happen. I have been to the museum in Washington DC and saw many terrible things there. I don't know how any one could deny this event. There are survivors and many other types of evidence such as pictures, witnesses, collected items, confessions, and more. It is not an elaborate lie.

Compuserb.com answers questions that those people who believe in the Holocaust may have. Here is one example:

Auschwitz is in Poland, not Germany. Is there any proof that gas chambers for the purpose of killing people existed at Auschwitz?

Answer:

No. The "gas chamber" exhibited to tourists at Auschwitz could not possibly have been used to carry out executions; it is far too small and it is not even airtight. In the 1980s, American expert Fred Leuchter, who builds gas chambers for American penal systems, took scrapings from the walls of the Auschwitz "gas chamber" for chemical analysis. He found no cyanide residue at all. The Auschwitz exhibit is a fake, pure and simple, a flimsy tourist trap.

My question is, how long would a residue like that last? Certainly not 40 years would it?

This site goes on to say that Auschwitz was a rubber manufacturing plant and that Jews were put to work in the plants. They were being held there because they were a threat to the German government. They also claim that dead bodies would not burn in pits and if all of the known creamatories burned all the time they were in operation, they could have only burned around 430,000 bodies. One of the final things mentioned on the site is that the diary of Anne Frank was actually written by someone else, and that Anne Frank's father sued that person for royalty money.

Another site I found (http://littlegeneva.com/badlands/?p=47) questions the truth in books published by Holocaust survivors. Here is something from their site:

"The publisher describes the book as "an epic read full of stories of how Bernard underwent experiments, assisted the Underground and even escaped, only to be recaptured and subjected to even greater torture.

Turns out he'd never been anywhere near Auschwitz, or even Germany, for that matter. Now the Jewish publisher has pulled the book from stores, and is worried that it may encourage "Holocaust denial." "

They also had something to say about a book I had to read in high school that I thought was very good/interesting called Night:

"Here Wiesel the false witness had some bad luck. Forced to choose from among several Allied war propaganda lies, he chose to defend the fire lie instead of the boiling water, gassing, or electrocution lies. In 1956, when he published his testimony in Yiddish, the fire lie was still alive in certain circles. This lie is the origin of the term Holocaust. Today there is no longer a single historian who believes that Jews were burned alive. The myths of the boiling water and of electrocution have also disappeared. Only the gas remains."

The site also discusses two other books, The Painted Bird and Fragments.

This site gives reasons for how the Holocaust could not happen and why it was faked. They claim that there was "Obvious Zionist need for the holocaust" and that "no budget, plan or order documentation for any genocide." I don't what all types of documentation have been found however, if historical documents were unclear I would think it's because Germany DIDN'T WANT OTHERS TO KNOW what they were doing. Duh. Why would they make it even easier to find out what they did? This site also claims that the Holocaust made Israel rich and that the Germans never could have had enough gasoline to burn all those victims. It calls people who believe the Holocaust "gullible and stupid."

Even Wikipedia has an entry on this strange holocaust denial movement.

The article says:

"Holocaust denial (commonly called Holocaust revisionism by its supporters) is the belief that the genocide of Jews and other minority groups during World War II - the Holocaust - did not occur, or it did occur, but in a way or at a magnitude other than what is currently held to be true by most.

In addition, most Holocaust denial implies, or openly states, that the Holocaust is a hoax which is the result of a deliberate Jewish conspiracy created to advance the interest of Jews at the expense of other peoples."

I also found out that denying the Holocaust is illegal in many places and punishable.

Holocaust denial is illegal in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Israel, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain and Switzerland.

The following punishments are used for Holocaust Denial Laws: Austria (six months to twenty years (violent), ten years (non-violent)), Belgium (a fine to one year), Czech Republic (six months to two years), France (a fine/one month to two years). The rest of the countries were similar to these.

Another site I found tries to show support for the Holocaust. It says that there is plenty of evidence to prove that the Holocaust was real. They have this to say about the Nuremburg trials:

"At Nuremberg, in 1946, several people were convicted of the following general crimes (specific crimes were also proven). This list is by Robert H. Jackson, prosecutor at this trial, and U.S. Supreme Court Justice:

Crimes Against Peace: namely, planning, preparation, initiation, or waging of a war of aggression, or a war in violation of international treaties, agreements, or assurances, or participation in a common plan or conspiracy for the accomplishment of any of the foregoing.

War Crimes: namely, violations of the laws or customs of war. Such violations shall include, but not be limited to, murder, ill-treatment or deportation to slave labor members of the civilian population in occupied territory, murder or ill-treatment of prisoners of war or persons on the seas, killing of hostages, plunder of public or private property, wanton destruction of cities, towns or villages, or devastation not justified by military necessity.

Crimes Against Humanity: namely, murder, extermination, enslavement, deportation, and other inhumane acts committed against any civilian population, before or during the war, or persecutions on political, racial, or religious grounds in execution of or in connection with any crime within the jurisdiction of the tribunal, whether or not in violation of the domestic law of the country where perpetrated.

These people were mostly convicted using "documents of their own making, the authenticity of which has not been challenged except in one or two cases."

This is a very strange movement and it is terrible that Iran recently was involved in holding a conference with these people. Denying events like this will only led to it happening again. We are supposed to learn from history and these people are just being naive.
