Gwendolyn Taylor
Looking for some spunk in your nail color assortment? How about a nail polish that provides an instant kick of color on your nails and has long-lasting staying power? OPI has just released a new line of exciting colors called the "Hong Kong" collection to reflect its trendy and multicultural aspects and are in sync with the seasons' popular hues.

There are twelve new shades to this collection ranging from shimmer to patent finishes all with exclusive names to remember. "Bling Dynasty" is a deep gold, glittery color. "Red My Fortune Cookie" is a twist on the classic red shade. "Hot & Spicy" is a combination of bright coral and red. "Dim Sum Plum" is a bright berry color. "Jade Is The New Black" Is a dark green metallic. "Suzi Says Feng Shui" is a shimmering cobalt blue. "A Good Man-darin Is Hard To Find" is a blend of orangey-red hues. "Lucky Luck Lavender" is light rosy purple patent color. "Meet Me On The Star Ferry" is a decadent plum shimmer. "Panda-monium Pink" is a light pink with a hint of purple. "Pearl of Wisdom" is an off white shimmering metallic. "Chop-sticking To My Story" is an orangey-caramel with a hint of shimmer.

I have recently tried OPI products, and when I saw this new collection I immediately scoped it out. After several minutes of debating, I finally narrowed down to one color to try: "Lucky Lucky Lavender". Purple is one of my favorite colors and I have always had a difficult time finding a purple shade (light or dark) that would compliment my skin tone (I am Asian with a yellow skin tones). This shade is perfect! It doesn't make my skin look more yellow-ish or appear "gaudy". It's a cute, trendy, girly color that looks good no matter what color shirt you have on.

The difference I have noticed with OPI nail polishes compared to other mass merchandise brands is that it has longer staying power and each coat you apply provide glossy shine and color. With all my other nail polishes of other brands, I would normally have to apply a clear top coat it make the color look shiny or glossy. Each bottle comes with a wider application brush making the process faster and less messy. I have really small hands, so you would think the wider the brush the harder to handle, but it's actually easier and less messy. The only downside of this is the price. Most OPI nail lacquers retail for $8.50 which is double or even triple the price of most other leading brands of nail polishes. However, for the color selection, uniqueness, and quality I can see why people would still opt to pay more this brand for it is truly a class of its own.
