The Hot and Happening Spots at the Grand Strand in Myrtle Beach
And a Few for the Less Adventurous as Well
Atlantic Beach is located between North Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach. This is an area of the beach that is much quieter and you will not find as much going on. This is one of the few African American owned oceanfront chartered towns in the country. If you're looking for a quiet place to relax and not be bombarded with people, then Atlantic Beach is the place for you. North Myrtle Beach is also a busy part of the beach where you can find numerous activities, shopping, amusement parks and beach activities. If you are into golf then North Myrtle Beach is the place to be as they have tons of golf ranges and miniature golf parks. You'll also find many resorts who cater to the avid golfer in this area. Little River is the oldest town in the Grand Strand. At one time it was a popular hideout for pirates because of its location on the Intercoastal Waterway. It's known for its fresh, just from the sea seafood, fishing charters, and blue crab festivals. If you love fishing and want a place that's quiet and neighborly, then Little River is the place to be. Murrells Inlet and Pawley's Island are on the southern tip of the Grand Strand. This is a very low key area of the beach which the majority of the population stems from the year round residents and vacation home owners who frequent the island during the summer months. You'll only find one hotel in this region and patrons in this area prefer the quiet life to the hustle and bustle of the more boisterous parts of the beach. Aynor and Conway are small towns that are located a little farther inland. These are quiet little towns that pride themselves on there southern hospitality and charm. Conway is one of the oldest towns in America, a number of its buildings are on the National Register Of Historic Places. Some people choose to stay in this area because the hotel fees are significantly less expensive and the towns have southern charm all their own. Of course, you have to drive about 20 minutes to enjoy the activities of the beach, but to some people its worth it.
