The Hottest Automotive Tech Trends Coming Off the Recent Test Track

Here Are Some of the Best Trends for New Automotive Technologies that Are Hot!

Here are some hot automotive trends which are changing the way we drive and use our cars. Many of these hot trends are in the passenger cabin where electronic gadgets are pretty much taking over.

There are plenty of hot trends taking place on the outside as well, and those are also more technological in nature, many of which are aimed at making us safer on the road. There has been a strong resurgence in the automotive industry to be more creative when it come to innovating new things into our cars and trucks.

Under the hood there are some really amazing hot trends, from using smaller engines to improve fuel economy while boosting horsepower in the same engine with external power adding equipment. These hot technology trends are basically either belt driven blower type superchargers or exhaust gas driven turbo-chargers.

Both of these hot trends will add incredible amounts of power when you need it while maintaining an economical base engine when you are not inclined to mash the throttle. This hot trend has been a staple of street rod builders for a long time now and the technology has done nothing but improve over the last 10 or 15 years.

The hottest trends in the cabin are in the dashboard display units which are pretty much full blown computers at this stage of the game. They have built in navigation, blue-tooth communication, touch screen technology and entertainment equipment all rolled into one slick interface right within easy reach of the driver.

The hidden hot trends are in the simple things like innovative suspension technologies which improve the ride and handling of our cars and trucks. The traction control systems we are seeing in our cars today are far superior to that of just a few years ago and they are including this equipment in the lesser cost models more and more!

One of the more important of these hidden hot trends seems to be in the transmissions and their controls. These used to be just big energy wasting necessities but now they are being redesigned to utilize electronic controls and are one of the main focuses on innovative ways to improve fuel economy.

The transmissions that make the most sense are being used in some Hybrid cars and trucks and it is called a "continuously variable transmission" this one device could one day be in almost every passenger car or truck. The efficiency and simplicity is amazing once you understand how they work. These are simpler with less moving parts and they improve the energy efficiency of power that is generated by making more of it actually turn into useful work.

Funny thing is this technology has been around since the 1890's and was used in the Subaru Justy here in the U.S. from 1989 to 1983. The Honda Insight has had the CVT in them since 2001, which is one of the little discussed reasons this car used to get near seventy miles per gallon on the highway! These CVT's have been used off and on for a very long time but with the advent of hybrids automotive engineers have taken notice once again all the unique properties that this simple power transfer device can offer. It really helps to have the more advanced electronics that we have available today as this is what really makes these devices function to the extreme levels of efficiency that have become possible. You may be surprised over the next few years at how many car models employ this transmission in place of it's older cousins.

My favorite hot automotive trends run along the lines of what they can do when trying to balance performance and economy into one smooth package. This feat is being accomplished by utilizing smaller engines, even four cylinders instead of six, and adding power boosting equipment that makes them perform extremely well while still maintaining decent fuel economy. If someday they include smart tactics like using the dealerships to re-train drivers in how to properly use their vehicles then I think we will be making great progress!

If I owned a dealership we would give free classes to any owner who wants to learn more about the many incredible features that are included in the newer models. We would also include free driving lessons as a public service for anyone who wanted to take a refresher course in safe and smart driving. It would be a great reason to get them to the dealership, and at the same time we could help teach people how to maximize fuel economy while making them safer drivers as well.

The automotive companies that are still in business are becoming more concerned about making really good quality products and then giving people more bang for their automotive buck! These are just some of the Hot Automotive trends that are making people sit up and take notice!

accident avoidance equipment, touch screen displays, run flat tires, built in cellular communications devices, real computers that interface with the driver and passengers, steer by wire, back up cameras, cylinder cut out controls to improve efficiency and many more!

Visit your favorite car or truck dealer to check out some of these innovative and hot automotive trends!
