The Houston Texans

The Houston Texans are an expansion team located in Houston, Texas. It started when the Houston Oilers would move to Tennessee in 1997. The city of Houston would be financially devastated by their departure. The franchise would be sued for their actions. Investor/owner Bob McNair would quit his plans to bring a professional hockey team to Houston and try to open an expansion team said by sportsecyclopedia. In 2000 the franchise would bring former Washington Redskins general manager Charley Casserly into the office as Vice President of operations. 2000 was also the year when Houston started to construct their stadium, the first stadium in the NFL with a retractable sunroof. It would be called Reliant Stadium. The estimated cost of the build was more than $350 million dollars. The new stadium would seat 71,000 and have an all-grass field. It would also be the sight for the NCAA's Texas Bowl from houstontexans.com. The next year Houston would hire Don Capers, Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator and head coach of the Carolina Panthers as the first head coach. They would play their first game in 2002 against their rivals the Dallas Cowboys. Rookie David Carr would have his ups and downs but I the end they would go on to win 19-10. Although they got off to a winning start, the Texans would go on to lose their next five games. They would finish the regular season 4-11.

2006 would have prove to be a Houston's launching. They would add on receiver Andre Johnson and finish the season 8-8 witch was a huge improvement from the following years. Coach Don Capers would be fired and the Texans would hire Gary Kubiak reported by NFL History. While Kubiak had an up hill battle, he still finished the regular season 8-8. They would lose their starting quarterback to the Carolina Panthers and bring on Matt Schaub. The 2007 season posted high hopes for the squad adding Ahman Green, Steve McKinney, and Dunta Robinson. Despite their brilliant acquisitions they would once again finish the regular season 8-8 and last in their division. Mario Williams was the overall first round pick in 2006 and has showed constant improvement. Many question the pick because he was picked over Reggie Bush, running back form the University of Southern California. Most of the football world expected Bush to be drafted first and criticized the Texans pick. They would go on to send three players to the pro-bowl. They have publicly asserted that their first priority is to conquer their division.
