For $1079.99, we settled on the HP HDX 16t Premium series. It has a small screen, at 16 inches, but the power of this laptop more than makes up for that. The resolution is a 16:9 widescreen and gives you High Definition playback of DVD movies and games. We both watched a movie on the HP HDX and realized that it was like watching on a larger television. It wasn't comparable to a big screen, but it sure didn't seem like we were watching a laptop either!
Not only that, but the audio on the HP HDX 16t Premium series is theater quality. Like the picture playback, Ito didn't seem like we were listening to speakers from a laptop. It is actually a 7.1 HDMI sound system. It's even better than our home theater setup for the TV!
The processor is an Intel Core Two Duo, and the HP HDX 16t Premium series has 4GB of memory and is upgradeable to 8GB. I was also a bit jealous of the 500GB hard drive but I will get over it.
The HP HDX 16t Premium series comes with Windows Vista Home Premium (SP1) and is upgradeable to Windows Seven for free.
My wife was able to copy everything over that she wanted from her desktop computer to the HP HDX 16t Premium series very easily. The laptop is equipped with Bluetooth, and WI-Fi, and she was able to effortlessly connect to our Wireless home network.
One of the things that really sold both of us on the HP HDX 16t Premium series was the integrated fingerprint reader that gives my wife the ability to keep her computer secure when she is out and about. She no longer has to worry about leaving her desk at work, wondering if someone is going t try to access her files. The workplace is so cut throat these days!
For my money, the HP HDX 16t Premium series is one of the best laptops I have seen. I may just have to go out and get one for myself soon. In the meantime, maybe my wife will let me borrow hers now and again.
