The HP Mini 1137NR 10.1-Inch Netbook Review

Corey Roberts
The HP Mini 1137NR netbook is all about ultra portability. Many people rely on smart-phones in order to receive an all-in-one solution when wanting to browse the internet, watch videos, and chat with friends on popular web chatting programs such as MSN, Google Talk and AOL instant messenger.

Hp MINI 1137NR Specifications

There is always a fine line between having an ultra-portable device and losing functionality from having such a small keypad. Anyone who has used a smart phone such as the Google Android knows how annoying it is to use the tiny QWERTY keypad. Also, watching videos is just not the same when viewing a funny YouTube video on a smart phone because the screen size is just too small to actually enjoy watching movies. However, using a netbook such as the HP Mini will allow the user to have a lightweight, portable, and functional minicomputer. The 1137NR is a step up from the 1115NR and utilizes a 10.1" (measured diagonally) anti-glare screen. Another huge upgrade is the 80 GB hard drive, which is a little bit less than a standard laptop. range. For example, the Toshiba Seattle A215 (an older laptop manufactured in 2008) has 120 GB HD and is priced within the same range as the HP Mini Netbook.

The 10.1 inch netbook weighs around 2.45 lbs, which is a miniscule difference from the 1115NR (2.25lbs). Heat issues with these net books have never been a problem due to the energy saving Intel Atom that has a processing speed of 1.6 GHZ. The total amount of memory exceeds the 1GB mark that is standard for most Netbooks. However, the RAM is upgradeable to 2GB, if one chooses to do so. RAM does not make a large difference in computer speed as the standard RAM is sufficient for activities that are usually performed on a net book. It is common for most net books to use the Intel Atom processor, as it seems to be the best choice for small mini computers. Another benefit of using the Atom processor is that it is very energy efficient, and this allows the user to have extended battery life when away from an electrical outlet. The Windows XP Home Edition operating system makes it easy to perform word-processing, surf the Internet (via Internet Explorer) and use the web-cam chat function (web cam is built-into the netbook).
