The handset is running the Android operating system as does the HTC Desire HD and is powered by an impressive 1 GHz processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon) and includes 768 megabytes of random access memory which enable it to easily multitask with all of the apps which can be downloaded from Android Market which is preloaded on the handset. Internal storage memory meanwhile is 1.1 gigabytes for fast access phone book memory, along with a microSD card slot which is SD 2.0 compatible. Connectivity, as with the Desire HD from HTC includes Bluetooth 2.1 with both File Transfer Protocol (FTP) for fast wireless file transferring, and the A2DP profile for wireless stereo audio to a compatible headset or stereo system.
The Desire S has an impressive 5 megapixel auto focussing camera as does the HTC Desire HD and other models form the manufacturer, while this phone also offers a power LED flash to enhance lighting where necessary. The camera is capable of capturing great moments with friends and family in 720 pixel resolution High Definition quality. Additionally, the phone offers a front facing colour fixed focus VGA camera for video calling as well as allowing you to capture great self-portrait shots. You can instantly share photos and videos with friends through the Friend Stream application which runs through the intuitive HTC Sense user interface as featured on other handsets such as the HTC Desire HD.
The phone also offers an internal GPS antenna which allows it to offer impressive location based services such as Google Maps and Facebook Places. These apps allow you to find exactly where you are, get directions between places, and tell friends your current location on Facebook by checking in. There is also a music player and easy access to all of your photos and videos through integrated apps optimised with the Sense user experience.
The HTC Desire S is a compact and well designed handset which features an impressive 5 megapixel camera for HD video recording and photo capture as well as allowing you to instantly share them with friends.
