The Human Touch

Mike Frazier
You say you want me,
And I know you mean it.
You say you need me,
And I know you mean it.
You say you love me,
And I know you mean it.
But my Love, why have you forsaken me?
Last night I dreamt you had rekindled your "friendship" with him
Or perhaps it had always been there, and I simply hadn't noticed.
He tickled you
And your passivity allowed it
He laughed with you
And your passivity allowed it
His face was close to yours
And your passivity allowed it.
"We're just friends, love, don't be ridiculous," you say
"We hardly even talk to one another," you say
"We're just very good friends, don't be ridiculous," you say.
So the two of you laughed and giggled and tickled and rolled around on the ground
As I watched
In pure jealousy.

But when I could take it no longer
I confronted you
As you rolled about, giggling.
I can't remember what I said to you
I only remember yelling my brains out and crying my heart out.
Collapsed on the ground, I felt no hope
But your other friends-the female ones-surrounded me
In one big shield of comfort
And even though I knew they did not understand
And probably didn't even truly care
It felt so wonderful to finally feel the human touch again.
