The Hyatt Regency in Savannah, Georgia

A Room With a River View

Karen Francis
As a business and leisure traveler, I can tell you a thing or two about hotels and the Hyatt Regency gets a thumbs-up from me. I did a little research before I headed to Savannah, Georgia recently and was more than impressed by the photos of the Hyatt Regency located at 2 W. Bay Street in Savannah, Georgia 31401. The photos show the wonderful river view that you'll find at the hotel as well as the lovely décor and nearby attractions.

The Hyatt Regency in Savannah offers river views with more than 350 guestrooms, business plan rooms, 24-hour fitness center, indoor heated pool, yoga, and lovely Juliet balcony in the Atrium rooms. The Hyatt also has fast board/PDA check-in and although check-in is typically at 3 p.m., you can call ahead the morning of your stay to request early check-in or late checkout.

Once you enter the lobby of the Hyatt Regency in Savannah, Georgia you will get a feeling of being in a 5 star hotel with the beautiful art deco designs as well as the overall comfortable feeling when you sink down into one of their plush leather sofas or chairs in the Atrium. Also, there is a concierges that will get you set up with various guided tours as well as show you the best place to enjoy a relaxing massage before dinner.

The Hyatt Regency also has a lovely restaurant that has beautiful views of the river and at sunset the views are spectacular! You can enjoy a wonderful breakfast, lunch or Dinner in the Windows restaurant or check out the Vu, which has one of the largest river view balconies in Savannah, Georgia. The Vu is also a great place to unwind after a busy day of shopping and tours.

The moment I stepped into my room, I felt a sense of a little bit of the History of Savannah with the shutters and Southern touches on the décor. My room was an oversized double which looked and felt more like a luxury suite less the King sized bed. However, I was a little disappointed that the bath was not larger as I enjoy a nice size bath to relax. Also, since the hotel is so close to the water, I could see signs of water wear and tear in the room.

The bottom line: An exceptional price, Unbelievable location with lots of shopping, boat tours and views of the river that will take your breath away. Visit the Hyatt today on line at www.savannah.hyatt.com or call them on 1-912-238-1234 or if you are in Savannah, go see them at 2 W Bay Street, Savannah, Georgia 31401.
