The Hypocrisy of John Edwards

Charles Willoughby
To those familiar with John Edwards law career it comes as no surprise that Edwards will do or say anything to promote John Edwards. Always one to seek out the spotlight and promote himself John Edwards was infamous throughout the state of North Carolina as the articulate, intelligent attorney who sought out the high profile cases which offered him not only million dollar payouts, but also offered the opportunity for recognition and self promotion. To the dismay of many North Carolinians Edwards would refuse to even meet with many of most poor, most downtrodden of the state (the people he claimed to champion) all because their legal plight did not offer the opportunity for huge legal fees and front page recognition.

It also came as no surprise to the people of North Carolina that once elected U.S. Senator representing the state he began almost immediately ignoring issues of importance to the state, issues he promised to champion, in favor of beginning his long sought goal of running for the presidency.

Now, it comes as no surprise that in spite of frequent and constant denials Edwards admits that his rumored affair with a staffer is in fact true. His reluctant confession taking us back to President Clinton's reluctant, " Indeed, I did have an affair with......."

This is the same John Edwards who launched his presidential campaign with the following statement:

"I want to see our party lead on the great moral issues - yes, me a Democrat using that word - the great moral issues that face our country," Edwards tells the crowd. "If we want to live in a moral, honest just America and if we want to live in a moral and just world, we can't wait for somebody else to do it. We have to do it." ....to which he added:,

"But for me personally, I'd rather be successful or unsuccessful based on who I really am, not based on some plastic Ken doll that you put up in front of audiences, that's not me, you know?"

In the words of Jeremiah Wright, Edwards pigeons are coming home to roost. To those of us who know and disrespect the man it seems fair. What does not seem fair is what he has done to his lovely and supportive wife who is dying from cancer.

Hopefully, this will end the public life of this mud bottom dweller.

P.S. Correction: I meant to say "why" doesn't this surprise me. Also, I just added you to my RSS Feeds, which I check every few days. I don't use the Favorites program 'cuz I can't keep up with the e-mails each time one of my favorite AC writers is published.

Who doesn't this surprise me? John Edwards is a total scum bag. I also think his mistress will be paid plenty to keep her baby from being part of any paternity test -- all the while Edwards will claim how badly he wants one to prove he isn't the father. What a joke!!
