The IDJ IPod Mixing Console, New from Apple

Add Cutting Edge Technology to Any Party Scene!

R

On an almost too routine trip to the mall today a friend and I decided to stop in the Apple Store to see all the new gizmos, gadgets and iPod colors that had come out in the week since we had been there last. First of all, walking into the Apple Store I feel like I am instantly being transported into 2050. Every computer in the store comes with so many features it'll take a lifetime to use them all, and there is an iPod carefully positioned on every square inch of counter space.

Just when we were about to leave something new caught my eye. It was the brand new iDJ iPod Mixing Console...just when I thought I had seen it all. In the past few years iPods have been slowly conquering every part of our daily lives. First we just used them while exercising or reading a magazine, then the iPod slowly crept its way onto buses, trains, airplanes, and busy city streets. Basically everywhere I go now I see those unmistakable white ear buds. The iTrip allows the music on our iPods to be sent by a radio signal on to a certain radio station so we can even listen to every song on our iPod in the car. The only logical thing to come next on the list of new ways to use your iPod would be using it to spice up the dance floor.

With the iDJ you can "professionally" mix the music from two iPods simultaneously and it even has a spot where you can plug in a microphone! To me, the iDJ takes away every aspect of that defines being a DJ. Standing there watching a DJ use an Apple iDJ mixing the songs from 2 iPods together, I wouldn't know which was weirder, the idea that iPod has replaced every device we have ever used to listen to music.. Or the fact that the DJ owns 2 iPods.

If I was on the cutting edge of technology, and a DJ, I think I would probably strongly consider getting my own iDJ. I could fully control each iPod independently from the iDJ, and it also has independent 3-band EQ, which would give me separate adjustment for each channel. And if I needed to add more music, it also comes with a USB cord so I can have songs on my iDJ anywhere I go! And luckily, it is compatible with every iPod model so no matter what type of iPod I have, I can always rest assured that I will be able to use my iDJ. $249.95 (not including the iPod) is a small price to pay to lead the way into a brand new world, free from records and turntables.
