The iMac Gets Updated: New Features Reviewed

The New iMacs Have Gotten Quite a Few Upgrades

While the new line of iMacs looks very similar to the old, the all-in-one computers have been updated with tons of new features that make the desktop Macs even more desirable than they were before. I've personally been on the fence about purchasing an iMac of my own for quite some time. With upgraded graphics, faster processors, and multitouch support., I may be well on my way to buying one.

Intel Core Processors

The new iMacs come with Intel Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 processors. These new processors make the iMacs faster than they have ever been before, allowing you to get more done on your computer, faster.

ATI Graphics Cards

The new iMacs use ATI graphics cards. These cards use the same type of technology that is currently being used in the iPad and iPhone 4. These cards are great for graphic-intensive things such as games, photo and video editing, and using 3D applications.

Multi-Touch Support

The Apple trackpad is quite possibly the feature that I am most excited about with the new iMacs. I love the idea of being able to control my computer screen with the flick of my hand rather than constantly using a mouse. The Apple Magic Trackpad is essentially just a giant version of the trackpad on Macbooks, but having that functionality on a desktop computer is pretty amazing stuff and a definite selling point for me.

All In One

This is nothing new for the iMac, but also the thing that has drawn me to the computers for so long. iMacs from day one have always been very pretty to look at computers, that have all the functionality of a desktop, without all the clutter usually involved with having one and running wires from it to everything else. The iMacs are Bluetooth capable, so you can literally plug the computer into the wall and then connect everything else to it without wires.

What do you think of the new iMacs? Are you more or less inclined to buy one now?
