The Immortal Highlander - Karen Marie Moning

Terri Pray
Throughout the Highlander books, by Ms Moning, there is one character who appears time and again. He's tormented the Highland men. Teased their women. Played magic tricks on them and then sacrificed a part of himself for one man. But there was a price to pay. His Queen cast him out, to learn humility and the price of defying her, or so it seemed. And Adam Black needed to find a way to lift the spell that had been laid upon him.

The problem is no one can see him. Not fae nor human alike, except for, perhaps, his half human son. Or so he thinks.

But Adam didn't reckon on a woman with the gift to see the fae. A Sidhe Seer. A breed of women he had long thought extinct. But they've been hiding and now one of them is the answer to his prayer. The problem is she's been taught to hide her gifts and stay well clear of his kind. For generations ago the Fae, the Immortal beings that Adam is a part of, hunted her kind down and destroyed them. She's been taught if one ever realizes what she is, then she needs to run, hide, escape from them before it's too late.

Adam Black is the worst of his kind. A seducer, beguiler, stealer of hearts and souls. And now she faces a choice. Help him. Or run and hope he will not betray her to the rest of his people - should he ever find a way to communicate with them again. Gabrielle knows how dangerous this is but can she silence the longing in her heart and run, or will she surrender to the passion Adam promises her with each long, sultry, breath stealing look?

Wow. What can I say? Ms. Moning's books are amazing. They pull me in each and every time and this one is a delight. I've been looking forward to reading Adam's story and it answered more than a few questions about him. I wasn't disappointed in the story. Ms. Moning made a promise to readers and came through with each and every word. The story sizzles. The sex scenes are amazing, hot and delicious. Gabrielle is a strong, yet vulnerable woman, she's spent her life hiding her gifts, cursing them at the same time, and now she faces the darkness and seduction of a man whose very being oozes sexuality.

Unfortunately I believe this is the last of the Highlander books right now. I own five of the books, the other two I've borrowed from the library, but unless I'm mistaken there aren't any more for me to tear my way through. I only hope she will write some more in the future and answer my craving for her delicious, well written, Highlander novels.
