The Importance of Cholesterol Screening

Be Aware of How Important it is to Check Your Cholesterol Levels

Zach Golt
I will be giving you a quick guide that could possibly save your life! The first thing that you can do to raise your awareness on your cholesterol is to understand how cholesterol levels work. Public screenings have to meet certain criteria to be eligible for reliability. The measurements and reliability of the cholesterol levels have to be taken by good staff, a staff with properly trained individuals with the right amount of education and training. The second thing that you need to do for yourself is to give yourself public screenings or go and visit a doctor to record your blood pressure.

Public screenings are very important to adults and children. Screenings can stop individuals with high blood cholesterol levels. After you are aware of the problem you can take charge of your health, and your life. Public screenings are just as useful as going into a physician's office. Many people don't know this but high blood cholesterol is one of the symptoms contributed from coronary heart disease. By doing public screenings you could catch heart disease early!

The ratio of LDL-cholesterol to HDL-cholesterol is how cholesterol should be calculated. LDL-cholesterol is sometimes called the 'bad cholesterol,' and HDL-cholesterol is the so-called the 'good cholesterol.' If you have 10x more LDL than HDL, then you are at very high risk of heart disorders, and cardiovascular diseases. When a person had a moderate risk of a heart attack their ratio is around 7.1

Achieving good blood cholesterol levels:

If you don't want to take prescription drugs - I have looked up some way to lower your cholesterol levels naturally.

1. The first thing that you need to do is regular physical activity. Try doing activity everyday at the same time. The activity could be as simple as running in place for 30 minutes, twice a day. Try to do at least 8-10 hours a week. This includes going up the stairs, swimming, jogging, bicycling, and playing Wiifit from Nintendo (The game keeps track of your activity, and weight).

2. Eliminate all processed foods. Processed foods are a fancy word for junk food. Junk food (Candy bars, cookies, pastas, breads, packaged food, frozen food, cereal) need to be eliminated from your diet.

3. Try to avoid red meat, and milk. Red meat raises your LDL cholesterol.

4. Also avoid ingredients such as MSG, Splenda, aspartame and artificial colors. Go organic if you want.

5. Good snacking foods to put into your diet would be: nuts, pecans, peanuts and cashews. Good oil to use would be extra virgin coconut oil and olive oil.

I hope that you gained a little more insight on cholesterol, how to maintain your cholesterol and different ways to keep it low!
