The more you make yourself stand out, the better chances you will have of being hired. Most businesses actually require that their applicants hold a degree of some sort. If not, your chances of being hired are slim to none. If you currently do not have a high school degree, you can always attain your GED online. If you would like to pursue a professional career, it is not too late. Speak with an advisor at a university or community college and have them help you out on deciding what professional path to take. The advisor will recommend what classes you need to take and how long it will take to complete the course.
It is also a social matter to have a degree. If you are talking with a group of friends or business people and they ask you where you went to school, how do you think you would feel? Left out and embarrassed that you do not have a degree, most likely. You can always work at a fast food chain, if that's what you would like to do with the rest of your life. If not, get out there and pursue an education, it's never too late to begin one. I met an older gentleman a while back who was in his 80's and he told me he was getting his GED! In his 80's and he decides to get a high school degree, now that is amazing.
