The Importance of Internet Marketing

Kristyn Parker-Meyer
In this day and age, most customers can be found on the Internet. Many people are now in research mode for the goods and services that the desire/require, with money being tight. They want to get the most value for their dollar, and nothing less. The first place that they go is their favorite search engine (I prefer Google), to find out if that company exists outside of their phone number.

Unfortunately, many companies do not have a home on the web. This is unfortunate, as they are losing out on a lot of prospective clients. In speaking to customers of all types, many say the same thing - if the company doesn't have a website, they move on to the next business that can help them. Simple as that.

We live in a world of instant gratification. If I am looking for a caterer to hire for my grandmother's 80th birthday party, I want to be able to look on their website, see a sample menu with prices, and make my decision from there. I don't want to have to call the business (which can only be done during business hours), explain my entire story and situation, listen to them spew out their entire menu, and then finally get the prices out of them. That's a waste of my time. The Internet could have told me that. Instead, I will look at the next company, the one who has a website.

In his book: "Crush It" Gary Vaynerchuk talks about starting up a business based on what your passion is. He talks about surviving without stable income. But the one thing he does recommend spending money on? A decent website. A place to call home on the Internet. You can buy his book here - it's awesome for anyone starting their own business - www.amazon.com/Crush-Time-Cash-Your-Passion/dp/0061914177 .

All in all, it's difficult to get others to understand the importance of reaching out to Internet customers. Many are stuck in a marketing time frame that is pre-Internet age. In order to have continued success, other methods have to be explored. If you are interested in exploring those methods - Code Format can help you out! Check us out - www.codeformat.com!

Have a great week!
