The Importance of Physical Fitness

Kevin Nurmi
Being physically fit has many good side effects. Some of these include:

-Decreased blood glucose levels

-A lower risk of cardiovascular disease

-Improved mobility abilities

-Increased energy

Unfortunately in a world where most anything can be accomplished with the click of a button, or a simple phone call, physical fitness takes actual work. Many people are too lazy to be worried about their physical fitness, and let their health slip. Everyone knows that they should exercise. It does not matter if you are fat, skinny, weak or strong, your body needs you to do some sort of physical activity daily. This is so that your body can work on keeping you healthy. Even though we know the importance of exercise, we often neglect it anyway.

According to the Senior Indian, it is believed that not exercising is one of the main reasons for the sudden epidemic of type two diabetes that is sweeping America. This is believed because not getting enough exercise and being overweight promote a resistance to insulin in your body, which is the cause of the life threatening disease.

One good thing about being physically fit is the fact that anytime is a good time to start moving. It is never too late to try and reverse the damage inactivity has caused your body. If you already have a disease that cannot be cured, exercising may help your body combat that disease. Things like diabetes and heart failure often react well to exercise and physical activity, not to mention that losing weight can help lower your chances of contracting even more diseases then the one you already have.

If you now realize that you need to work on your physical fitness, but are not sure how to start, here are some suggestions. First, if you have a disease or condition you will want to have a stress test preformed by your doctor. This test can help you figure out what you should and should not do while exercising, and what your safe limits are. Certain activities like jogging, high impact aerobics and weightlifting may not be safe if you have complications with a disease. For example, anyone suffering from peripheral neuropathy would want to stay away from food heavy exercise, and steer more towards low impact activities. However, if you have a condition that will make it more difficult to get physically fit and active, do not be discouraged. There are always alternatives that you can do in order to better yourself. Your doctor will be more then willing to help you discover what those things are.

As you can see, physical activity and physical fitness are very important to your body's health. You will have to put effort into becoming physically fit, but in the end, it will be well worth your effort. If your body and health are important to you, then you will take the necessary measures to become physically fit and active once again.
