The Importance of Tattoo Designs, and Their Meaning

Leslie Bogaerts
The widespread idea of accepting tattoo designs is on the rise. They are now a common way of life and a rapidly being accepted into society. This was not always the case. Older generations are frustrated with this idea as they think of tattoos with negative connotations, but they are slowly having to deal with this new idea.

The reasons for receiving a tattoo vary. However, the design itself is what holds all the meaning. Spiritual ideas are often incorporated into the design and allow each person to be able to wear their family heritage with pride.

Tattoos are often used to remember a lost loved one. These are important because the person feels a sense of honor towards the person they have lost, as well as a sign of respect. The name of the person is often used in this type of tattoo, but not always. Certain symbols can be used in place of the persons name that symbolize the memories of that person.

Both men and women alike enjoy the angel wing tattoo that covers their entire back. These wings have a spiritual meaning, but are often used for their physical appearance. Depending on whether it is a man or a women that receives the tattoo it will have a more feminine or masculine touch. Depending on the preference of the person as well, color may be used to fill in the wings rather than black ink.

Among girl flowers are a very popular tattoo design. The physical appearance of a flower is what draws people in. However, the flower also has a spiritual meaning. The flower stands for several hopeful ideas including: the circle of life, death, and rebirth.

Words are also used to say specific phrases, usually revolving around hope and have an uplifting message. However, most often people will have these phrases written in a different language other than English. Usually the language is chosen because the phrase is able to be written in some sort of symbol or resemble a design rather than written words.

Really cool tattoo designs can be quite addicting. One a persons receives their first tattoo they almost instantly fall in love and desire more. With the current accepting attitude of society towards these tattoos this is not a problem and have increased the amount of visible tattoos dramatically. They were once seen as a sign of disrespect and placed on various parts of the body that were not necessary visible. However, today they are widely accepted and are usually placed in visible places to show off rather than hide away. They are attractive works of art that can add a nice unique touch to each individual.

The internet is a great place to look for really cool tattoo designs these days. Make a search for the kind of image you would like as tattoo and you'll be sure to find 100, if not 1000, different options to choose from.
