The caterer, the venue, DJ, bridal party attire, the list could go on, and that's not even taking into consideration the time spend looking for that perfect bridal gown. Having a theme in mind to center your wedding around can make some of these decisions a little easier. I have seen brides looking for bridesmaids dresses without having a color palette in mind, news flash, bad idea. Unless you are thinking about the basic black, getting you heart set on a dress without a color in mind can lead to some disappointment when you finally pick your wedding colors. The bridesmaid dress you had your heart set on might not come in the color you want. Your theme will be the golden thread that runs through all your planning decisions, providing cohesion through out the whole celebration.
Take for instance the theme that has existed in the imagination of ever little girl, the timeless Princess theme. Elegant brocade design cake with a beautiful castle cake topper, champagne, and a banquet style table fit for royalty with the waltz playing in the background. A black tie affair with extravagant ball gowns or maybe you decided to plan your day around your favorite flower, sun flowers with their beautiful bright colors. Then again you might decide on something with a holiday in mind, winter wonder land with snow flakes and candle light. What ever you come up with; a central theme in mind will make the planning much easier.
Most often then not it is very difficult for the bridesmaids to agree on what type of bridal shower to host or even the type of gift to present to the blushing bride, your theme could lend itself to the shower. If your bridesmaids are anything like the rest of us then deciding on a gift can turn into a monumental task. Planning a wedding is sort of like building a house; a great foundation makes the work run smoothly. Your theme will help cut out the guesswork and give everyone something to work with.
Remember, your wedding day should be uniquely you. Choose a theme that will showcase your personality, something that you will enjoy and remember for a life time.
