In a state of "we're bored! There's nothing to play!", my roommate and I decided to test out some of the downloadable indie games on X-box live. After ten-fifteen minutes of deliberation we settled on the Impossible Game by Flukedude- and cast ourselves into Hellish digital nightmare! And had a lot of fun too.

The game is simple enough. You are an orange square. You jump over triangles and on black squares. Whenever you miss a jump, you die. You die a lot. The screen moves at a frantic pace and all of the jumps have to be perfectly timed or you will slam into something. Luckily the programmers left you with one nifty trick. You can drop flags down so that when you die you can restart from either the last one you placed or you the left and right bumpers to select another flag. This is kind of a double edged sword though. When you drop a flag the game automatically puts you into "Practice Mode" and when you beat the game you don't receive any awards. If you are one of those gamers who chases after metals and achievements you're going to have to complete the entire board in one fell swoop and that is going to a lot of practice.

To get an idea of the gameplay experience, allow me to indulge all of you on an excerpt from our conversation while playing- "Yes! Yes! Ye- Ah come one! You stupid *explicative deleted*! Wait! Yes! AH! I'm gonna die I'm gonna die I'm gonna die...! Dude! YEAH! This *explicative deleted* just got real Son! Oh this just got re- NO! Satan Programmed this *explicative deleted*!" It honestly took us over a hundred attempts to halfway through but we enjoyed every second of it.

In all honesty the game is a blast. Its frustratingly hard, but in a good way. The more you lose the more you want to beat it. Not to mention the music in the game is fantastic. It's a simple techno riff that plays throughout the level and it gets more and more intense the further along you get. It pumps you up as much the raw tenacity the game draws out of you. If you have a few extra Microsoft points and some spare time download this and invite a few friends over. You'll be screaming and cursing but you'll be enjoying it all the same.
