The New (and Improved!) Jimmie's Restaurant in Rockledge, FL

Quite some time ago, I wrote a review of Jimmie's restaurant in Rockledge, FL. I've always loved that restaurant, but sadly, in October 2007, it closed, with no warning, and was replaced by a CVS. Last year though, to everyone's delight, Jimmie's re-opened at Turtle Creek, also in Rockledge, FL. If you head down Barnes Blvd, towards Fiske, you'll see signs for Jimmie's. Turn on Admiralty Blvd and follow it around, you can't miss Jimmie's, next to the Pro Shop at Turtle Creek.

This new and improved incarnation of a town favorite still offers all of the old favorites, and is still a "baseball gallery" (that is of course, if you're a Yankees fan!). Jimmie's has kept what appears to be all of the old breakfast menu. You can still get those famous biscuits and gravy. They serve breakfast until 2pm most days. The prices are still cheap, and the food is still great. You'll even find most of the old staff, who certainly had a large part in making Jimmie's great. Outside, there is now ample parking, even golf cart parking, and a pretty outside area complete with a water fountain.

What's NEW is the atmosphere, some of the lunch menu, and dinners! Yes, that's right, you can now get dinner at Jimmie's too! There is a large, clean, bright dining room, boasting a more upscale look than the old diner style. Wooden floors, large windows, and perfect lighting make the new Jimmie's stunning. The windows face the beautiful golf course, and there's even a banquet room off to the side that can be rented out for special occasions. On the other side of the restaurant is a full liquor bar and lounge area, and that's where you will find all of the old baseball memorabilia. Off of the bar/lounge area is a large porch with tables where you can eat, perfect for those beautiful fall and early spring afternoons.

This new incarnation of Jimmie's brings together the hometown favorite menu of old fashioned home cooking, with a classier atmosphere that's lovely for a night out with your sweetheart, or a family dinner, or even for special occasions. The addition of the bar has made this restaurant a seamless addition to Rockledge's most popular golf course, being a great place to step inside and cool off with a cold one after a great game. The lounge area features several large televisions, usually tuned to a sporting event, and some nights they offer karaoke too!

The breakfast menu is the same as it always was, though it is shaken up a bit with new additions, like the deep fried home fries. I don't really know how to explain these, but they're delicious! My favorite has always been the biscuits and gravy though, and I will often order a couple of large orders to go, for an easy breakfast at home, or to share with coworkers when I have to go in early. The hungry-man specials are still on the menu, and the breakfast prices are still the best around for what you get!

The lunch menu features most of the old favorites, and some new additions as well. My favorite for lunch is the French Dip sandwich, which is packed with meat, and some cheese, and served with a side of Au Jus that is scrumptious! The Au Jus is heavily seasoned with Rosemary, making it delicious and aromatic as well. The salads are great, as are the other sandwiches available on the menu.

Dinner is new to Jimmie's, and you'll find the lunch menu available, as well as nightly dinner specials. The best I've had is the Prime Rib. This was one of the best Prime Ribs I've had anywhere.

Stop in and visit, whether you're a newbie to Jimmie's, or an old patron that didn't realize that he came back, and you won't be disappointed. A bright, clean, welcoming atmosphere, good food, and a staff that's always friendly and professional make this one of Rockledge's best kept secrets, but we sure are willing to share the secrets with everyone we can!
