The Incredible Edible Egg Has Many Health Benefits

Pam Parent
Eggs used to have a bad reputation because of the cholesterol found in the egg's yolk. Many eliminated eggs from their diet if they had high blood pressure, high cholesterol numbers, or didn't want the extra risk of developing any of these medical conditions. Eggs eaten in moderation, have been found to have more benefits than negative effects on a person's health. Eggs are one of the highest sources of protein, and have many disease fighting nutrients. To get the most nutrients from eggs, make sure eggs are properly stored and cooked.

Choline, Nutrient Found in Eggs, Has Many Benefits

The egg's yolk is a great source of choline. It has been found that a person who consumes a high intake of choline can reduce their risk of cancer, especially breast cancer in women. Choline has also been linked to regulating and developing the brain, nervous systems and memory enhancement. Researchers found that eating approximately six eggs a week can give a person these benefits.

Eggs are Beneficial to Eye Conditions

Eggs are high in the nutrients lutein and zeaxanthin. These nutrients have been know to help ward off macular degeneration disease, which is the leading cause of blindness in adults. These nutrients also have been known to lower the risk of a person getting cataracts, and helps to protect the eyes from harmful ultra violet radiations.

Eggs Benefit the Waistline

Eggs are one of the highest sources of protein. The protein in eggs helps to keep a person full and stay energized. Eating eggs every other day can help reduce daily calorie intake, and snacking in between meals. Researchers at Louisiana State University found that overweight people who ate a two egg breakfast, at least five times a week, lost 65 percent more weight. It also was discovered that people had increased energy levels.

Dietary Care

If a person has high blood pressure, diabetes, skin allergies, heart disease, or any other medical conditions, always consult with a physician before making any dietary changes. This will help eliminate and negative reactions that may occur. A doctor can also help to properly incorporate eggs or any food in a person's diet so that it is safe and healthy for that individual.
