Prices and Events at the Zoo:

When you get to the Indianapolis Zoo, you will have to pay a Zoo Parking of $5.00 or an Event Parking of $8.00 parking fee per vehicle, and it is $14.00 for adults and $9.00 for Senior (age 62+) and Youth (age 2-12). What is not included in the admission price is your food, rides in the kids area, and the Zoo Train ride. The Zoo's operating hours are 9 a.m to 6 p.m. Friday-Sunday, during the summer months, times change throughout the year, so check their website before you get started on your zoo trip.

There are many upcoming yearly events that happen at the Indianapolis Zoo, like the Back to School Concert with Radio Disney, Autumn Harvest, Halloween ZooBoo, and there is even a Christmas at the Zoo, where they light the zoo and exhibits with pretty Christmas lights.

Let's Tour the Indianapolis Zoo Exhibits:

When you enter the Indianapolis Zoo you will find the Marine Mammal Exhibit where you will see seals/sea lions, polar bears/ walrus, and the live dolphins show. In the Oceans area of this exhibit you will be able to walk under the dolphin show arena and watch the dolphins swim around. You will also see penguins, swim under your feet as you walk through the Oceans exhibit, there is also penguin feedings in this area. In the dolphin theater, is where you will be able to view the dolphin shows that go on throughout the day.

The next exhibit on our zoo tour is the Deserts area, here you will find meerkats, lizards, snakes, and more all under a glass dome. You will be able to see dessert plants, and the animals running around, as they would in their native home. After leaving the desert exhibit, you will walk to the rides area, this is a fun place for the kids. You will find a carousel, kombo family coaster, 3-D ride, pony rides, and the zoo train.

In the Encounters exhibit, there is a petting zoo in this area, where your child can experience petting goats, pot bellied pigs, donkeys, and more. Your family will also be able to watch the elephant show, at 1:30 and 3:00. Now that the kids are finished petting the animals in the Encounters area, let's walk through to the plains exhibit, this is where, you will find the zebras, elephants, lions, giraffes, and for just the summer of 2009, The Dragons of Komodo. In 2010 there will be a new cheetah exhibit that should be really neat to see, that will have bats, foxes, and more, they are also planning on doing cheetah races in this exhibit, which got my husbands attention..

The last exhibit we will be taking a tour of it the Forest area, the animals you will find here are, Alaskan brown bears, gibbons, tigers, and even a Bald Eagle. There is even a small children's playground area where the kids can burn some energy running through the bridge, going down the slide, and more.

What to Eat at the Indianapolis Zoo:

Cafe On The Commons , is in the middle of the zoo, what's on their menu, hamburgers, pizza, hot dogs, chicken fingers.

Outpost Cafe is located next to the Encounters area, on their menu is, pizza, healthy choices, ice cream, and in their dinning area there is a fun splash park that they kids can operate, and as they stand under tall flowers, and run under domes they will get very wet.

Dugs 'n Suds and Edy's Ice Cream, which will be found in the rides area of the zoo, their menu has, hot dogs, and ice cream.

There is even a Floral Cafe which is located in the White River Gardens area of the Zoo, here you will find a wonderful butterfly and a verity of gardens that you can stroll through. On the Menu at the Floral Cafe is all healthy choices.
