The Indigenous Peoples of Lilliput: Archeological Evidence Unearthed
Gulliver May Have Been a Literary Invention. The Lilliputians Were Not
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
An archeological team led by world famous unearther of unanticipated realities, Luciano "Lucky" Lansky, Ph.D. from the International University of Unlikelihood in Zurich, Switzerland. reported today that they had unearthed identifiable remnants of a civilization of very small humanoids in a couple of long abandoned orange groves in Southern California.
The remains of what appear to be of several hundreds of these '˜people' who ranged in height from 6" '" 11" were found surrounding the remains of a much larger human-like skeleton that had apparently been tethered to the ground. The larger beast is calculated to have been about the size of a modern human.
In what is being reported in the International Journal of Anthropological Oddities as an " -- unusual and unexpected finding," the world renowned anthropological speculator Professor Appleton Bradbury says, "I propose, quite modestly, that the smaller of the creatures appear to have somehow downed the larger beast and consumed him (or her) one tiny bite at a time. It would appear that an entire army of tiny beings feasted for an extended period of time on the larger, captive one."
In the California state capitol, Sacramento, elected officials from the Governor on down and members of the both the State Senate and Assembly made haste to find available microphones and reporters from whatever news outlet they could locate in order to deny the possibility that any people, no matter their size, inhabiting at any moment in history what was to become the great state of California ever engaged in cannibalism of any variety.
It was observed by a well known and readily recognizable commentator representing one of the major national network news organizations that, all of a sudden, no one seemed to recall a party that ended badly in the Donner Pass some years back. The current Governor of California, Jerry Brown, has reportedly asked that network to immediately dismiss that commentator lest they
risk being asked to abandon any professional recognition or presence they currently enjoy in the state.
Asked for comment, the Governor said, simply, "Some bygones never really happened at all, you know." A spokesperson and Official State History Revisionist for the Governor, a Mr. Winston Smith, later restated the state's Chief Executive's comments as being, "I think this issue requires further investigation." No written or recorded record of his earlier comments could be located.
History is not necessarily what happened or what is recalled. After a very brief period, it becomes equated with what is recorded and then survives to be read.

Post a CommentNicely Written, thank you
This is like watching "War of the Worlds"!! Happy April Fool's albeit a few days late.
Maybe the drugs are too plentiful in California.
I am not familiar with this particualr story, but there has been some speculation of humanoid creatures living in the western hemisphere long before the Asian migration of the (American) Indians.
You just may have outdone yourself on this one, David. Very well done indeed!
Maybe that's what they mean...let bygones be bygones...that is, they are gone by the way! LOL Good stuff friend.
"Some bygones never really happened at all..." made me laugh out loud! That is one of the cleverest turns of phrase on truths I've ever encountered. And your fictional news releases have given me an idea on how to write an article regarding some thoughts I've entertained off and on over the years. This one capped it off with the archeology. I hope you don't mind me using your idea?
This sounds interesting!
April Fools Rules! cheers :)
Funny!
