The Indigo Child - Fact or Fiction?

You Be the Judge

The definition of an Indigo child is best worded in The Indigo Children: The New Kids Have Arrived, a book by Lee Carroll and Jan Tober. "An Indigo child is one who displays a new and unusual set of psychological attributes and shows a pattern of behavior generally undocumented before."

The Indigo Child is believed to be recognized because of a new life color that was discovered and found in certain individual's auras. However, that theory has been debunked and the website indigochild.com puts out that "just in case you heard otherwise from other "indigo" sources, the designated word "Indigo" has nothing to do with the color of an aura! It is the result of scientific observations by a woman who has the brain disorder called synesthesia."

Nancy Ann Tappe, a psychic and synesthete, researched and performed studies which eventually led to the publishing of a book in 1982 that was called "Understanding Your Life Through Color". The study was done on people's personalities classifying them eventually as Indigo Children. Towards the end of the seventies, Tappe noticed a change taking place in the color of children's auras, as well as in their personality patterns.

The Indigo child name describes an energy pattern of behavior which seems to exist in over ninety five percent of the children born in the past ten years. When an Indigo is young, they are easy to recognize because they have large, clear eyes that almost seem to penetrate you. It appears as if they can see right into your soul, and they can.

These children are extremely bright, and they have an amazing extended memory that goes well beyond their years. In addition they seem to be highly instinctive, quickly picking up on words that have not yet been spoken. Hearing and seeing what the average individual cannot.

The most important factor of the Indigo child is that they are highly sensitive, and seem to have come here for a greater purpose. They are known as the "bridge to our future".

According to many specialists, the Indigo children phenomenon was predicted by Edgar Cayce. He made the prediction that eventually the world would be full of these "dark blue children" referring to the colors he saw in their aura.

One of the primary beliefs by those that study Indigo Children, is that many children diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) or any one of the similar diagnosis, represent "a new kind of evolution of humanity." It is believed that these children do not need drugs such as Ritalin and other stimulants, but rather that they need special care and guidance as well as specialized training to help them succeed and get through life.

If you are still trying to figure out if the Indigo Child is fact or fiction, you might consider reading the book I mentioned above: "The Indigo Child: The New Kids Have Arrived" by Lee Carroll and Jan Tober or another book they published "The Indigo Celebration".

There was also a movie produced several years ago, titled: "Indigo" about a young girl who was an Indigo. Although the movie is more Hollywood Style, than fact driven, it is an interesting look at how these children are.

Either way, fact or fiction, the entire theory is extremely interesting and worth a study. Also, contrary to popular belief by those that are "non believers" in the more spiritual and mystical ways of thinking, Indigo Children are NOT brats, but unique children with special gifts that should be nurtured and directed to the betterment of themselves and others.
