Once upon a time, (not that long ago) all that was needed to achieve first page search engine recognition for a chosen set of words was an up-to-date website with proper META tags. Those days are gone.

Not only do you need link-popularity in the thousands or even millions to come up on the very deepest of searches: you now need to be a source of information:

Nobody is looking for, for instance, another 'I am a mortgage lender too' 'vanity' website: they are looking for real information, services, questions and answers: the most high-tech, most useful website out there for what they need. The search engines are compelled to provide that to them, for free; so that the search engines can sell their advertising in the margins above, below, and to the right of the search results.

The result is that a normal website cannot achieve significant, organic, unpaid search engine placement advertising for coveted searches (like real estate and mortgage searches) without providing a real service, real information to the users.

If this makes you angry because you are invested in an invisible website, don't be; what is needed can be added in, salvaging the entire investment.

Take http://www.mortgageyes.com, for instance. Notice the BLOG link: http://www.mortgageyes.com/blog/

These added-in Questions and Answers create the service, the traffic, and the recognition. In time, the website setup properly with the proper options will build its own Google sitemap with each post, and build a properly optimized page for each post; making the website findable by searching for the answers to specific questions about various types of mortgage financing, which is the information that real potential customers for the company look for. Since they found their answers here, why not get a quote while they are at it?!

    Here is your update! Type 'Clark County Mortgage' into Google! Yup, that one and lots of others including 'Pre-approved mortgage Portland' etc, etc, etc, ;-) Works everytime, forever, and gets better with time!
