"Well, I think..." but before he could finish his sentence the door opened and a giant hand grabbed his wife by the neck and dragged her out of the prison. The door slammed.
He looked up at other fellow prisoners questioningly and saw the same look of terror and uncertainty on everyone's face.
His wife had not committed any crime, nor had he himself. As the matter of fact, all of the prisoners there were innocent, and yet they were there in the captivity and he wondered why.
He turned around, and far behind the bars, out on the field, he saw his wife in a monster's grip. His wife was trying hard to break loose from the monster's grip, but of no avail. And suddenly, a sharp edged weapon flashed in the monster's hand.
"No!!!" seeing the weapon, a heart rending, ear piercing scream broke out from his wife's mouth.
While holding her with one hand the monster raised his other, the one with the weapon, high above his head and brought it down with a violent sweep. The sharp edge of the weapon went slashing her head. A stream of blood gushed out from her body. Both the head and trunk kept on writhing for a while and then lay still, as though life just never existed in them.
His body shivered and eyes closed out of fear. It was the most shocking and horrible act he had ever witnessed. He wished it was a nightmare. But no, it was real. And slowly his fear was replaced by rage. He felt the anger boiling within him.
"That's outrageous!" he thought. "It's flagrant injustice to kill someone with such brutality without rhyme or reason."
"I will kill the bastard." He growled. "but how?" He did not know. He was no match for that monster.
It was not until the monster killed another of his fellow prisoners, that he realized that they all were going to meet the same fate. They were there awaiting their turn to be executed.
"If I somehow make a break from here," he thought "I would tell the whole world about this act of monster and stop these killings."
But this desire of his died with him as the door opened again and this time it was he himself who was caught by the giant hand. The monster dragged him out and the same scene was repeated once more. The same weapon flashed and slashed one more head. His head fell and his eyes were wide open, reflecting mixed expressions of fear, rage and hope. Hope, that one day the world will find out about these killings and the monster will be punished. But what the poor fellow did not know was that even if he had managed to break away from that captivity and told the whole world about the most deadly, dastardly and diabolical deed of that monster, he would not have been able to stop those killings.
This world, this highly civilized world would have paid no attention to his words, would have done nothing for him just because he, his wife and all the innocents in the prison were mere goats and the monster, a butcher, a meat seller!
