It was a "bingo" moment for the two of them discussing their combined love of horror one day when they set out to draw up the plans on how The International Order of Horror Professionals site and organization would work. Having mutual friends that also had a love for the genre they laid their strategy out to their friends and IOHP was soon born.
Paul produces films and creates illustrations of all kinds in the Colorado Springs area but his first love in his body of work is that within horror. His film productions include working with bands to take their craft to DVD. Bev is a freelance writer with hundreds of published works. She has co-authored books as well as her own published books written about how one can use their astrological signs/charts to their advantage as writers and has also released a fictional "romance" book.
Of course, in the general entertainment industry dealing with film, writing and other creative pursuits within the horror genre, there are the well known like author Stephen King, film director Alfred Hitchcock and actors like Cassandra Peterson (Elvira) but a united organization to serve as a networking tool, information gathering and a means of mentorship/support was lacking for people who have a love of horror but not the resources in a market where peoples' entertainment dollar is tight.
The website launched in July of 2006 and has since added members from various points on the globe and allows members who aren't making millions the ability to fine-tune their skills and keep abreast of industry news as professionals. They also allow armchair lovers of horror to connect with those in the industry and keep up on new ways to get their dose of horror in the form of an associate membership.
Utilizing various internet technologies, they have live discussions with various authors, film producers, artists, misc. multimedia producers, special FX/make-up professionals and musicians. They send out an industry email newsletter (The Bloodied Quill), offer online courses and will soon launch their own book imprint. Also, a short film DVD is in the works for release.
With approximately 200 members to date, The International Order of Horror Professionals continues to add to its membership as well as bringing in new ways for its members to connect and fine-tune their skills.
If you have a love of all things horror, The International Order of Horror Professionals is a great place to hook up with others in this genre.

Post a CommentGood stuff, Liz. Where have you been? I sent you a PM.
Well written. Good read.
Hey there Rodney - check them out. IOHP is open to all so hopefully they can offer you something.
Very Cool Liz! I have written two horror novels and love the genre. I will check this out! Hope all is well with you!
I love horror, but since I am into comic books and sci-fi more so than horror, I have spent and invested most of my money in comic books and sci-fi.
