The Internet: A Venue for Creepy, Scary People

Hannah
No, this is not a Halloween story. Although maybe it would be an appropriate time of the year for such an exploration of creepy, scary people on the Internet.

The longer you surf the Internet, the more you find out just how creepy and scary people can really be. Check out some of the blogs to see what type of confessions, and tidbits of their lives people share. Is it all real? Who knows! All I know is that maybe there isn't too much difference between those who actually do the creepy, scary things, and those who make it up to get attention. It makes you wonder, will those who make it up eventually put those creepy, scary things into motion? Could be!

How people think and what they do have always fascinated me. At one time while in my master's program I was really interested in learning about the mindset of the serial killer. For whatever reason, and I'm sure it's in order to actually sleep at night, I no longer have the interest. In fact it gives me the creeps to think about it. Maybe I learned too much, and that's what frightens me. Knowledge may be power, but that doesn't mean it isn't scary.

You know what does intrigue me yet scares the heck out of me? At this very moment somewhere on the Internet their is some kind of creepy, scary person that will do something somewhere down the road, that most people would rather not know about. How sad that the dark side of things must somehow always accompany the good.

The Internet can be such a wonderful learning tool, as well as a venue for people to help support themselves and their families. I have read so many beautiful stories on the Internet, have satisfied my urge for historical events, made some much welcomed money for writing on the Internet, and shared my experiences, and learned form others' experiences as well. Unfortunately, what comes along with that is the creepy, scary people that must as always really mess up a good thing. I guess that's why it is said, you can't have light without the dark. The only good thing is, the light does always outshine the dark!

*Happy Halloween Anyway!
