The Internet's Best Ghost Cams Allow You to Be an Armchair Ghost Hunter

Ghost Hunters, the new version of paranormal investigators, are forming groups across the country and abroad for the sole purpose of documenting paranormal experiences and catching ghosts on film. To assist them in their search, many organizations have set up ghost cams in haunted locations that are accessible from the Internet.

If you dream of being a ghost hunter but you just don't have the equipment or you are not quite ready to venture out into the darkness to investigate haunted locations, you can now watch the live ghost cams from the comfort and safety of your home. Many are equipped with features that allow you to take a screen shot of any apparition you may spot, and then send the image to the organization that has set up the ghost cam.

With your help, ghost hunter organizations are able to film and monitor hours of video on their ghost cams, which they do not have the time to do on their own. You could capture evidence of ghosts or paranormal activity right from your computer screen.

The Lexington Ghost Cam: The USS Lexington, a US aircraft carrier that was commissioned in 1943, holds the record for serving the longest of any aircraft carrier in naval history. The Lexington participated in nearly all major operations in the Pacific Theater during World War II and was decommissioned in 1991. The carrier now resides in Corpus Christi.

There have been many reports of ghost sighting aboard the Lexington. One of the most dramatic reports involves a couple from Peoria, Ill that toured the Lexington. The coupled reported encountering a young man, approximately 19 years old, in the engine room of the ship. He presented in a white uniform, a limp of the left leg, and remarkable blue eyes. This young man shared information about the engines with the couple. It was not until they shared their appreciation of the knowledgeable young man with a worker on the carrier that they had any clue that who they had spoken to was actually an apparition. The worker, who knew there was no one in the engine room at the time, and who knew there were no workers fitting that description, ran to the engine room to investigate. No one was found. The ghost cam on the Lexington updates to a live photo image every 90 seconds. You can also view images caught by other viewers.

Willard Library Ghost Cam: Willard Library, located in Evansville, IN, was founded in 1885. In 1937 the library's janitor came in to shovel coal into the furnace at 3 am. He entered the basement in the darkness with only a flashlight for light. Suddenly before him appeared a woman dressed all in gray. The image startled the janitor and he dropped his flashlight. When he bent down to recover the flashlight, he noticed that the woman also wore grey shoes. As suddenly as she had appeared, the woman in grey disappeared. "The Grey Lady" has been reported many times by Willard Employees over the years.

The ghost cams are set up in several areas of the Willard Library in hopes of catching images of the Grey Lady. The Ghost Cams update every 30 seconds, with the exception of the new basement cam that refreshes every second.

Craig-y-NosCastle Ghost Cam: Graig-y-Nos Castle was once a TB Hospital. Reports range from shadows that appear to have no origin, unusual lights, and feet walking up the stairs, to children laughing, playing, and bouncing balls. These 26 Ghost Cams refresh automatically showing different sections of the castle. This site provides a nice selection of camera angles.

Abandoned Hospital Ghost Cam: These ghost cams are part of a research project being conducted by the Oklahoma City Ghost Club. The hospital is six stories high and contains six ghost cams. Local residents claim the hospital is haunted. The ghost cams refresh every 15 seconds, but you can set them to refresh at a slower rate if you wish.

Ordsall Hall Ghost Cam: Ordsall Hall, located in Salford UK, is a Tudor manor house that dates back over 800 years. Sightings have been reported of a mysterious "White Lady" in the Great Hall and the Star Chamber. A young girl has been reportedly seen on the stairs on several occasions. The hall was investigated by "Most Haunted" in November of 2004. Most Haunted reported moving tables, strange noises, and one of the crew members claimed to have been touched by some invisible being. This site has two ghost cams: one in the Great Hall and one in the Star Chamber. The ghost cams update every 15 seconds.

The Queen MaryGhost Cam: The Queen Mary was the world's longest luxury liner. She also carried military personnel during World War II. Up to 15,000 troops were transported at one time. Wounded troops returned to the US on the Queen Mary. The ship is now permanently docked at the Queen's Market Place in Long Beach, California.

There are numerous stories of ghosts on the Queen Mary. So many, in fact, that you can now take a haunted tour of the ship. The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS) from the TAPS: Ghost Hunters show investigated the Queen Mary in October 2005 and will return to the Queen Mary for another investigation on Dec 2- 5, 2007.

So, if you want to be a ghost hunter, but are not quite ready to venture out into the night in search of ghosts; Ghost Cams just might be the next best thing. Get comfortable and spend some time viewing the ghost cams. Who knows you just might the one who captures a ghost on film.
