This is a story about Nick who is a high school senior. He is a writer, has a best friend, somewhat wealthy, and had a girlfriend. (I think) Other than that not much is really told about him. From here on spoilers are going to be in this article so if you don't want to know, don't read on. Now on the other side of the spectrum is Annie, the tough girl who is bad to the bone. The movie previews are all about Nick solving his own death and saving himself. He "dies" because of a long and somewhat unbelievable story. In a short and sweet version, Annie and her boyfriend carjack a Mercedes and she swipes some pretty expensive jewels. After the heist Annie takes the jewels and walks off totally ignoring her angered boyfriend. In his anger he reports her to the police and she gets busted. Her first thought of who ratted her out is Nick's friend Pete who was around her "spying" she suspects. She takes her gang of two guys and begins to beat him up bad, until he says that Nick ratted her out. In the preview you see Nick walking alone on a dark road with a car behind him. Her gang gets out and beats him up pretty bad, then she gets out and vents her anger on him. her final kick to the face knocks him out, into limbo. From this point on the movie begins to go downhill. The buildup for Nick being dead is really bad. The audience can figure out Nick is in limbo way before the director illustrates it through visuals.
Now imagine you are beat to near death by some punk girl wearing jeans, hoodie, and beanie. You can see her but she can't see you. You can kill her any way you want but nothing happens in the real world. Only visual satisfaction you threw her off a building watching her fall to her death. But as the storyline progresses you begin to fall in love with her. yes I said fall in love with the person who almost killed you. The movie turns into a murder mystery ( and I use that loosely) into a love story. Nick fall for this girl who over the length of the movie becomes more and more beautiful, on the outside. As the film progresses she looses the hoodie and beanie revealing her beautiful wavy hair and soft face. However she is still angry and violent regardless of her outward appearance.
One last point that was annoying. The entire scene with the old man in the hospital was removed. No reference or anything to his character.
Overall don't waste your money on this film. Nick lives and Annie dies from a gunshot wound. Her boyfriend dies and Pete overdoses on pills. Real happy ending there.
