The IPad is Missing a Desktop

Where is the Real Desktop?

The pad is a really cool device. It's not really a laptop and it's not really an iPod. It sure looks like one though in how it functions. The iPad is missing a desktop. Here are some more thoughts about what the iPad is missing.

When I first looked at the iPad I thought it was fairly small. At just 9.56 inches high and 7.47 inches wide, the iPad is really small. It is much larger than the iPod. It just works the same basic way. I checked out the home screen of the iPad first. You are not able to drag icons around the screen as on a laptop. You can not save notes or documents on the home screen. It was actually pretty basic in its functionality.

I then checked out the settings. They are even more basic. I saw that it is really simple to use. The iPad is a great idea for your parent that is computer illiterate, but its just not much for those of us computer geeks who want more out of a laptop. Even though it really isn't supposed to replace a laptop, it still lacked a lot of shine for me. In short, I wasn't impressed at all.

Last I checked the applications. It is very basic. You can get iWork in the Applications store at itunes. Each part of iWork is a separate purchase. There are three of the applications that complete iWork. At $ 9.99 each, that is $ 29.97 for i/work. If you already have it then that is a serious waste of money.

Overall, the iPad is a handy tool for a writer like myself. If you want to watch videos and surf the internet then this is a good choice. If you are looking for a bigger screen then your cell phone or iPod has, then this is a good choice. If you want more applications, you are going to have to fork out more money. That would be a lot more money than any logical person would be willing. Congratulations Apple you just lost a customer.

Thanks for the low down. I was wondering what this thing actually did.
