With America's once unquestioned position as the world's most economical, technological, and influential dominance challenged not just by the communist Chinese, but Russia and India like in no time prior, Mr. Obama has seemed to be unable, or unwilling, to raise 'Ol Glory and charge the hill in it's defence. The first two years saw Obama use all of his political strength to ram through a massive "stimulus" package, a socialized national medical program, a government takeover of America's once dominant automobile giant, General Motors, the financial industry, virtually shut down NASA with the elimination of the Space Shuttle program - redirecting its focus to be anything but leading the world in space exploration and technology - and severely limiting energy drilling and exploration. This is not to forget the "apology tour" that we embarked on at the outset of his term when he visited nations, particularly in Europe, apologizing for America's past dominance and bowed to anyone that he could find. What he has done thus far with herculean vigor is to further speed America's ascension into economic oblivion and saddling the nation as the world's debtor for possibly generations to come.
But, that was all last year. This is a new year. Mr. Obama has the opportunity to start anew. Starting with the visit of the foremost economic and military threat facing America and the United States, Communist China, he can start his atonement. He can start by setting the grounds of a new U.S-China relationship that significantly reduces the pressure of China's foot on America's throat; he has the golden opportunity to start America on a new path of prosperity and independence. The question is will he take this opportunity to show the American people and the world that he is the leader of the U.S.A and the "free world". And that he will stare down anyone who threatens freedom, and the very existence of America itself, no matter how many billions of people live within their borders and are potential customers. The answer is that there is a better chance of having a snowball fight in Hell.
Mr. Obama seems to be physically unable to honestly address such issues regarding:
• The exportation of U.S-American technology to Red China for it to use against our business and national security interest. As reported by John Gapper, Financial Times Columnist, "Western companies [lead by the U.S to allow China into the WTO] have had to disclose details of their technology in order to gain contracts and later had to compete against Chinese state-owned enterprises selling near-identical products. Westinghouse Electric, a US nuclear group, has just handed over 75,000 documents as part of a deal to build four advanced nuclear reactors in China... China...is using its market power to take a short-cut by "digesting" others' intellectual property. One State Council report called for the 'absorption, assimilation and re-innovation of imported technologies'." You wonder how the Chinese are advancing so quickly? It's made in the U.S.A.
• The reduction or cancelation of punitive taxes and regulations that reduce American's business and economic competitiveness, such as taxing U.S corporations on profits that they make internationally, not allowing individuals to shoulder more of their health cost, allowing domestic businesses to bring foreign profits home without penalty, and having the highest capital gains taxes and corporate tax rates in the world. According to The Heritage Foundation, "America has fallen behind because many other nations--particularly in Europe--have dramatically lowered their corporate tax rates in the past 15 years.- Ireland is perhaps the most spectacular example, lowering its corporate rate from 50 percent to just 12.5 percent. American-based companies are taxed on their worldwide income. This policy is very anti-competitive...For example; an American-based company operating in Ireland is at a disadvantage since its profits are subject to the 35 percent U.S. corporate income tax in addition to Ireland's 12.5 percent corporate tax."According to an ICF International [ a management, technology, and policy consulting firm] study commissioned by the American Petroleum Institute (API), the development of America's vast domestic oil and natural gas resources that had been kept off-limits by Congress... could generate more than $1.7 trillion in government revenue, create thousands of new jobs and enhance the nation's energy security by significantly boosting domestic production...also estimates that the development of all U.S. oil and natural gas resources on federal lands could exceed $4 trillion over the life of the resources." This doesn't include wind, solar, nuclear, coal resources, or other energy resources.
• Stand up for the U.S Dollar and military world position . Two issues that should be front and center on the mind of the president of the U.S; first, the Chinese president recently boasted in public, "U.S. dollar-dominated currency system a "product of the past" and highlighted moves to turn the yuan into a global currency." And secondly, "They [China] clearly have the potential to put some of our capabilities at risk and we have to pay attention to them. We have to respond appropriately with our own programs." [Defense Secretary] Gates told reporters [Jan.8 2011]. The Dollar is being drained of value due to grossly bad financial decisions of the Obama Administration, as well the last two Administrations, such as increasing the national debt to unsustainable levels, building wealth on credit and loans, and becoming the world debtor nation. The U.S Budget deficit is $14 Trillion, mostly loaned from Communist China, and growing. And while the world's most socialist and communist countries are breaking their backs to cut their government expenses, to expand the private sector - even Cuba and the U.K - by implementing austerity programs, the U.S government acts as though it is immune. It is not! And the rest of the world knows it. China in particular will soon come to collect what it is due.
• Implement a long-term national strategy to improve U.S educational standards to regain America's competitiveness. American global investor and author, Jim Rodgers stated on Fox News Channel's Glenn Beck, referring to the state of the American education system compared to China, "In America we don't teach math, we don't teach science, we teach self-esteem." "Fifteen-year-olds in the U.S. ranked 25th among peers from 34 countries on a math test and scored in the middle in science and reading, while China's Shanghai topped the charts, raising concern that the U.S. isn't prepared to succeed in the global economy" , Bloomberg reported Dec.7, 2010.
Yes, these are is issues that the president of the United States and representative of the American people should place on the very top of his To-Do List. But, do not look for this to come from the current occupant of the seat of U.S President. Unlike when America received a shot across its bow by the former USSR's launching of Sputnik into orbit, it ignited President Kennedy to challenge America's genius and educational system to not only top the Red Bears' achievement, but surpass it. And that led us into space and putting the first man on the moon and leading the world in technology. The current officeholder seems indifferent to the destitute status of this nation as he does everything to squash America's dormant majesty. He, as well as previous U.S Administrations, seems too willing to set the table for the Red Dragon to dine. Maybe he's internally grateful that he doesn't have to apologize for America's dominance or greatness anymore, today or in the future.

Post a CommentCorrection: The phrase "annual budget deficit" in my earliest comment should be "annual trade deficit."
Congress did not get the message. The most important message of the voters in 2010 was that they want a productive Congress. No more unrelated amendments attached to a bill. No more gridlock. No more wasting our tax dollars on equipment the military does not need and will not use. No more partisan politics in Congress. We want jobs. We want a better economy. We want progress!
Our government looked the other way and allowed corruption and fraud to exist in every social program. Our Republican leadership has no interest in ending the fraud that exists in Social Security Disabilty, Welfare and other programs. If they enforced the law, they could save trillions of dollars. Our government is starving for income. Our politicians are presenting falsehood after falsehood to secure their positions in public office. The House of Representative is wasting our tax dollars via a totally useless vote to repeal the health reform law without appending the Republican Health Care Plan (which does exist but never made it out of committee) to the bill.
Wow! Next you'll be blaming Obama for the Great Depression. Obama did not create a single one of the problems you mentioned. They were created by previous Congresses (before the 110th Congress) and previous Presidents. The tax incentives to move corporate operations overseas, the trade deficit and the faulty global economic policies of the past half century all play a part in us losing our status as a leader in every field. We have had an annual budget deficit every year since 1980. That deficit has ballooned to more than a trillion dollars a year. We have lowered taxes every year while the costs of military equipment and everything else went up.
