The J82C: All the Benefits of the P90X Without the Suicidal Thoughts

Jason Cooley
The P90X has been getting a lot of hype for its intense difficulty level, but the P90X is a lot like biting into a hot pepper. You think, "It's just a little pain. I can take it." Next thing you know, you have tears running down your face telling you to make it stop. The few masochists that can handle the intensity of the P90X get great workouts and the results that follow show this. Now, what if I said you could have the best of both worlds, a workout program that works your entire body really hard and actually allows you to enjoy yourself. Of course, you would say "OK, how fun" and that's where I turn my head and smile and say "No charge."

I figure since the P90X is no more than a bunch of successful fitness programs meshed together, kinda like the casserole of fitness, that I would do the same with activities.

The J82C

To complete the J82C, you need a gym with a rock climbing wall and a swimming pool, or if you want to take it to nature, load up your bike and find a place that has rocks to climb and water to swim in.

Run 2 miles on the treadmill - The treadmill is a great place to start to get you warmed up. This isn't a long distance, but it combines nicely with the other activities and the best part is, you won't have to be on the "hamster wheel" long.

Ride 5 miles on the stationary bike- Again, not a daunting task other than riding a bike that doesn't go anywhere, but this small workout adds to the combined workload of the J82C.

Rock climb for 30 minutes- This is where things start to pick up both in terms of intensity and fun. Rock climbing is one of the very best activities you can do to get a total body workout. Many people don't understand how much leg work is involved in rock climbing.

Swim 20 lengths of the pool- Swimming is right on par with rock climbing. 20 full length laps will be tough to do, but the most comfortable places to push yourself is in the cool water of the swimming pool.

I guarantee if you do this 3 days a week you will get shredded.

No diet needed as long as you keep it within sensible reason.

I can't write this in the third person... I just can't. To do so would make me feel like a douche big enough to accommodate Madonna. My articles are a change of pace from what you can expect anywhere else. M...  View profile
