The Jewish People: Evidence that the Bible is True -- and Jesus is the Messiah

"I Will Bless Them that Bless Thee, and Curse Him that Curseth Thee" (Genesis 12:3)

Hartley Engel
That the Jewish people are still around is objective evidence that the God of the Holy Scriptures exists and that the Christian faith is true.

Approximately 4,000 years ago, God made the following promise to Abram: "I will make you into a great nation; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. And I will bless those that bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you" (Genesis 12: 2,3 NIV).

Due to their disobedience, God predicted that the Jews would be scattered throughout the world and would be persecuted repeatedly - but He also promised to bring them back into the Holy Land. The Jews were removed from their homeland and taken into captivity by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon in 606 B.C., and were removed yet again (after returning from Babylon) in A.D. 70 after the Romans destroyed Jerusalem.

On May 14, 1948, about 1900 years after roaming the earth and being mercilessly persecuted everywhere they went (including the Nazi holocaust, where 6 million Jews were slaughtered), the modern state of Israel was born.

What a miracle! And as evangelist and writer Josh McDowell notes, "history has demonstrated that any people who leave their homeland will, after about five generations, lose their national identity by being absorbed into the new culture, but the Jews remained a distinct entity."

And what happened to the nations that messed with the Jews? At one time, Egypt was the crown jewel of the world; now it's a third world nation - and still Israel's enemy. After persecuting the Jews, the following once-mighty empires also crumbled: Rome, Babylon, Persia, Greece, Germany and others. The following African nations all broke off diplomatic relations with Israel: Chad, Ethiopia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal and Upper Volta. Is it a coincidence that they have all suffered in the famine caused by the expanding Sahara desert?

It is beyond the scope of this article to get into end time prophecy, but I will say that Israel will play a crucial role, and after the Battle of Armageddon, Jesus Christ (Yeshua the Messiah) will save her and judge the world.

"For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he shall reward every man according to his works" (Matthew 16:27).

Would you like to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? If the answer is yes (and I pray that it is), read this.

The survival of the Jewish people is a great miracle and testimony of God's faithfulness.

And the hatred of God's people continues as also noted in the Bible.
