The Joke of Scoring Money Online

Jacquelyn Quintana
Spending this summer looking for a job has proven fruitless. My applications submitted to over 8 different places seem to have been in vain. Realizing I'd be spending all day everyday at home with the dogs, I decided to turn to possible opportunities for making money online. The majority I found of course were scams and/or impossible to actually make decent money on and very few allowed me to get started right away.

Entering a search into a blog for making money on the Internet, I found Associated Content and it has been superb thus far. I received some money here and there $3.00 mostly starting out for a few articles which had me stoked considering that one of the worst ways of making money (surveys) failed to make me three dollars in 3 weeks. Therefore, I would like to state that anyone associated with survey sites is absolutely missing out.

Surveys on average will only pay out .50 or so at a time. I really like those sites too that you don't even get money but instead earn points to then enter into sweepstakes drawings. What a waste of time. What are the odds of making money/winning prizes off of such sites? Slim. Other sites claim to offer over $50 for a survey...after you pay $40 to join the site.

Just as absurd are those sites that offer money to read emails. Yeah that sounds easy enough. I signed up for such a site since I check my mail daily....unfortunately I was never told that the amount paid out for opening one of these emails was two cents. TWO CENTS. On average I was receiving three emails a day, so I was making a whopping .06 a day. This was not what I had in mind. These sites however never seem to make claims to make you rich though and advise you join several sites to see more return. Honest but...the site is admitting that you won't be making much and you should also join the next site on the search engine's results page. Soon you end up belonging to five or six sites all emailing you, you end up forgetting which ones you belong to, your password for this one, username for that name, it becomes so obnoxiously disorganized that it becomes such a hassle to keep track of everything.

The worst however must be those sites that offer a couple of dollars here and there for playing games or using products that 'you love already.' Okay, I gave in to one of these gaming sites unbeknownst to me that I actually first off had to pay for chips Vegas style to place bids online against other players. Reminiscent of online gambling I do believe. Testing products is a joke as well. Sites offer a couple dollars, maybe five or ten if you are lucky to apply for a credit card, sign up to get your credit score, order a pound of Columbian coffee, etc. All of the registration and order forms are both tortuous and tedious. I even find that some of the sites compensate less than it cost me purchase and process the product. Ugh.

I'm not 100% certain of this Google deal of placing links on web pages for the company. Apparently you can make like $300 a day which is quite impressive if it's true. If anyone knows if such an opportunity is legit, please let me know. I ask the same about sites that claim to payout for watching movies, trailers, and television. If there are legit sites out there offering such things, that'd be uber sweet as well.

Anywho, decently short story summed up into one paragraph, earning some money is possible online. It's really a question of how much you care to make and how fast you want to make it as well as how much effort you are willing to offer. If you have a full time job, it can be a great source of supplement for dates out with the wife, some gas money, whatever you would spend chump change on. Likewise, if online is your only manner of generating income like myself, realize that you will have to spend an equal amount of time as any other job to see real return. It is possible but is a matter of what you involve yourself in, how much effort and how it will take to make return on your efforts. Be especially careful of scams, many sites will fail to make you much money or will end up taking more of your money than you will see in return. Word of advice, I enter the site's name and the word 'scam' into a search to get real people's opinions and experiences on the site. A lot is trial and error, if something is taking you too long *cough*surveys*cough* then invest your time in something different. I was surprised to find that here on Associated Content I've been able to make a few bucks here and there rather quickly and from what I hear, some members are avid writers pumping out 10-15 articles a day and making some serious money. In my opinion, blogging is the way to regardless if you do it here on Associated or not. It's the best way to get return on your efforts and doesn't have any of the frustrations of other sites.
