The Journey

Following down a road

where I cannot see what's ahead

I don't know where I'm going

I just know it's there instead

I tried going to the left

but found it to be a dead end

I looked around the corner to the right

hoping to see a friend

Instead of a friend

I found myself wandering alone

Looking for that old familiar feeling

where I felt like I was finally home

But all I can feel is sadness

and all I can see is the dark

That awaits for me in the future

Waiting to leave its mark

Should I stop while I'm ahead

And make peace with how far I've come

Or do I keep trudging along

Until it is finally done
