The Joys of a Romantic Christmas

Love Is The Most Amazing Feeling

Gregory Todd
The time has come once more to pick a tree and decorate our house flamboyantly as we like. Let's all go nuts over the big retail sales and Christmas bazaars lurking in every corner. Enjoy the mouth watering food, cheery Christmas carols and holiday traditions we know by the heart and all love. As a child, I grew up to a loving home where every Christmas morning I'd wake up to the smell of chocolate cookies and brushing my teeth with decadent fudged filled brownies, something I still wish to wake up to every morning. But the snowman melted and the bright coloured red sled faded away.

A few years later, I find myself stained by the anxiety and responsibilities of a grown up. Although having a job and being independent has its perks. You grow up, you fall in love, you live happily ever after; at least that's what we were brainwashed to expect - prince charming, all dressed in white on a majestic horse that saves us from evil step moms and poisoned apples.

The most amazing feeling in the world is waking up in the morning knowing there's someone beside you to wake up to. All curled up as the morning fog still covers the window pane; your whole world fits inside your arm with out a care in the world and waking up slow to the sound of them breathing and again before you know it the holidays approaches and unlike your childhood days, you don't brush your teeth with fudge brownies and cookie dough anymore. Instead, your holiday high is frantically raiding every store to find that one special gift for that one special person. Gifts are synonymous to expenses but you don't necessarily have to buy an extravagant one, it just has to be something straight from the heart. If you're having a hard time thinking what that something would be, then boy don't I have the perfect gift suggestions for you.

Nothing says "you are special" than a bottle of you and your partner's bottle of favourite wine. Chilled to perfection, indulge with a home cooked meal over a crackling fire. Show me a woman that would not love to have a man that does that and I'll tell you I am a Martian.

Also, you can never go wrong with an enchanting bouquet of flowers. All dressed in a holiday feel and a lovely satin bow. That will surely earn you kudos and cut you some slack for the months to come. Go above and beyond her expectations showing up on her doorsteps on a dreamy Christmas morning with her favourite flowers on a china vase adorned in baby's breath.

Stir up your romance with a pair of lingerie that you hand picked especially for her. Make a note and place it on the box that says something between the lines of "all I want for Christmas is you."

And lastly, a good old fashioned candle lit dinner. Words are lost as you both get lost in each others eyes and suddenly you realize the person in front of you is your cookie dough, your chocolate fudge brownie.
