The Kev07 Guide to Humor

Learning how to be funny IS possible, I did it. You know that kid who would randomly say stuff and laugh while everyone just thought to themselves "wow just shut up" I used to be like that. However over the years, I have learned how to be funny, and now, if I'm chillin' with you whether you be a guy or girl and I don't make you laugh, then I almost feel bad (Yeah that's a side effect of being funny, you feel bad if you can't make someone laugh/smile , I'm an attention whore )

Let's get started!

But wait, before we start I need to clear a really STUPID idea surrounding humor and being funny.

You ready for this?

I'm even going to bold it.

Here we go...

BEING FUNNY HAS ALMOST NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT YOU SAY. Ever wonder why you might be laughing inside when you read a joke on the internet, but when you tell it in real life, others just look at you like someone is tickling your butthole? That is because the actual CONTENT is not even HALF of being funny. THE KEY TO BEING FUNNY IS THE WAY YOU CARRY YOURSELF AND PRESENTATION. More about this ahead.

1. Learn how to keep a straight face.
Not only does bursting into laughter right after you tell a joke detract from the funniness of the situation, but it can end up making you look like an idiot if no one else laughs.

2. Sarcasm sarcasm sarcasm...
This is one trick to being funny, it's a low way to be funny, not the lowest, but quite low, whatever, it works. Just don't overdo sarcasm or you will seem like an asshole.

3. The low blows
Unless you know what you're dealing with and WHO your audiences don't do low blows. and definitely do not actually believe your low blows. Racism(Note: I am NOT racist), fat jokes, in general, just jokes that people think in their head but don't have the heart to say.

4. If it's in your head at the moment...
Chances are it's in the heads of people around you. If you verbalize it while they are too scared to say anything, you have a good chance of eliciting laughs.

5. Cockiness
Confidence is a good thing, arrogance is bad. Cockiness is right in between. Basically, to be cocky in a funny way, youre being arrogant, but it's OBVIOUS that you're joking, and I mean VERY obvious. Your facial expression and body language make this possible.

6. Don't take things seriously
Be light about things, because guess what? Seriousness is the exact opposite of funny and a lot of other good feelings in life. If someone makes a comment in good nature about you that you can't respond to, just laugh. Don't make yourself look dumber by making a horrible comeback.

7. Comebacks
These are hard. Thinking of comebacks are extremely easy when you're having afterthoughts of a situation, but when you're actually in the situation, your mind goes blank from the pressure. This one is all practice.

8. If you REALLY need a comeback...
Lowblow. penis size, sexual orientation, weight, mothers are all good to go if you are desperately in need of a comeback.

9. DETAIL DETAIL DETAIL
This is the defining factor of a funny story. DETAILS. Instead of "I stuck wasabi in my friends drink and he drank it. Hah" You want detail! "OH MAN!, I stuck this fatass glob of wasabi into Kev07's slurpee, then he just took this FATASS GULP and had this expression and just started CRYING HAHAH!"

and finally...

10. EXAGERATION!
I think this may be THE key difference between a funny person and a hilarious person. Exagerate anything that can be exageratted. EG:

"omg that girl is so fat" Translate to "SHIT GET THE HARPOONS, I SEE A WHALE!"
"Omg, his breath smells weird." translates to "Heres a buck, Go buy yourself the tic tac company.

Remember to exagerate.

Ok awesome, I got all these tips, but now what?

The NUMBER ONE way to learn how to become funny is to hang out with funny people. It's as easy as that. You pick up on their jokes, and when you see new people, you give off that attitude and that joke. It's something you just gather from hanging around people.

Chill with smart people, become smart, chill with potheads, become pothead, chill with funny people, become funny.

If you want to get good at comebacks, chill with people who bash on each other constantly (good fun anyways) you WILL catch on.

Go watch comedians, Dave Chappelle, Russell Peters to name some off the top of my head. Watch their style, their body language, facial expression

And again...

11. BEING FUNNY IS MORE THAN JUST WHAT YOU SAY!
With everything else, body language and facial expression plays a big role in how you convey your feelings. Make a joke with a closed expression will get no one laughing. Mumbling jokes do no good. Making jokes while you're mugging someone won't elicit any laughter either. Say those jokes with enthusiasm, say it loudly, act it out.

Practice, and you shall become better.
