The Kid CallCard Reunites Lost Children with Parents
New Product is Helping Kids Separated from Families in Crowds
Even a decade ago, such a devise would not have been as practical. However, in today's world where 3 out of 4 adults 18 and over carry cell phones, the Kid CallCard is an indispensable gadget for parents and their children.
What is the KidCall Card?
The Kid CallCard is simply a two-sided plastic card containing pertinent contact information regarding a lost child. One side holds up to ten cell phone numbers, including numbers for parents, as well as extended family members (such as aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc.). The flipside contains your child's own personal logo and name. Before ordering one (for $9.95), ask your child what picture or logo he wants, such as a favorite baseball or football team. This way the card becomes more personal. What's more, it's waterproof and perfect for beach and swimming outings. You don't need pockets as it can be easily be attached to a child's lapel.
Benefits of the Card
Reduces stress on both parents and lost kids
Teaches responsibility to kids
Show the importance of being prepared .
Teaches a plan of action
Teaches problem solving
How to Practice Using the Card with Your Kids
Don't just give The Kid CallCard without instructions. Instead, sit down and rehearse with your child a plan of action in the event he (or she) becomes separated from you in a crowd. Also, explain how using the card makes him more grown-up. Pull out your own adult plastic cards (drivers' license, credit cards, etc.) and then give him his Kid CallCard. This way he feels good about growing up and helping solve a problem in the event the card is needed.
Tell your child to first look for a police officer - If there isn't one in the crowd, tell him to go to another mother (with children in tow) and tell her you're lost, showing her the card.
Stress the importance of staying with the adult - Above all, emphasize how he needs to stay with the other adult and not run off, looking for Mom and/or Dad.
Warn Extended Family Members
Call all extended family members and explain the purpose of the card. If you have older family members (such as grandparents), be sure and stress the importance of having your cell phone turned on, especially when you call to let them know you're in a public place with your kids.
Invaluable Tool for Special Needs Children
For most children, it's not hard to get to the proper people to find help locating their parents. However, parents of special needs children (such as autistic kids) are even more anxious over losing their kids, as it's harder for their children to communicate and receive the needed help in reuniting with their families. The Kid CallCard Company will donate $1 from each card purchased to the Autism Society of America.
Not only will you be easing the worry of losing your own children in a crowd, but you can feel good that you're helping parents of autistic children, as well as your own family.
