The King's Speech Leads Oscar Nominations with a Dozen Nods
83rd Academy Award Nominations Announced January 25th
With 34 days to go until Oscar's big night, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the nominees January 25, 2011, for the 83rd annual Oscars.
Oscar-winning actress Mo'Nique ("Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire") made the 83rd Academy Awards nominees announcement, accompanied by Tom Sherak, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, during an early morning press conference on Tuesday, January 25th.
Ten movies were nominated for Best Picture: "Black Swan," "The Fighter," "Inception," "The Kids Are Alright," "The King's Speech," "127 Hours," "The Social Network," "Toy Story 3," "True Grit" and "Winter's Bone."
In total, "The King's Speech" captured a full dozen nods from Oscar, followed by "True Grit" with 10 and "Inception" and "The Social Network" with eight Oscar nominations each.
"The King's Speech" leads Academy Award nods with 12 Oscar nominations.
"The King's Speech" (See-Saw Films and Bedlam Production/The Weinstein Company) was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Colin Firth), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Geoffrey Rush), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Helena Bonham Carter), Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Directing, Best Film Editing, Best Original Score, Best Picture, Best Sound Mixing and Best Original Screenplay.
"True Grit" earned 10 Oscar nominations.

"Inception" and "The Social Network" nabbed eight Oscar nominations apiece.
"Inception" (Warner Bros. UK Services Production/Warner Bros.) was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, Best Picture, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Visual Effects and Best Original Screenplay.
"The Social Network" (Columbia Pictures Production/Sony Pictures Releasing) was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Jesse Eisenberg), Best Cinematography, Best Directing, Best Film Editing, Best Original Score, Best Picture, Best Sound Mixing and Best Adapted Screenplay.
"The Fighter" knocked out seven Oscar nominations.

"127 Hours" racked up six Oscar nominations.

"Black Swan" and "Toy Story 3" each earned five Oscar nominations.

"The Kids Are Alright" and "Winter's House" picked up four Oscar nominations apiece.

"Alice in Wonderland" captured three Oscar nominations.
