There have been many kisses to make news and history, why would this one have any more importance than some of its predecessors?
At the MTV Movie Awards, thousands of people saw "The Kiss"......but let's back up in history, and look at some more kisses.

The first recorded kiss in a motion picture happened in 1896 in a film by Thomas Edison. The film was named "The Kiss". The kiss was "performed" by John C. Rice, and actress Mary Irwin. The kiss lasted under 30 seconds

In 1977, a lady named Ruth van Herpen went to an art museum in Oxford, England. She kissed a painting by Jo Baer. The lipstick smear left in the wake of her kiss was called "art vandalism", and she was ordered by law to pay the restoration costs of $1,260. Her claim was that the artwork was "cold" and she was trying to cheer it up.

A six-year-old Jonathan Prevette, a first grade student in North Carolina in 1996, kissed a classmate on the cheek. The teacher reported him to the principal, Lisa Horne. The principal ordered him a day of detention for the act. After appearing on a local radio show, the mother's story spread until the U.S. Department of Education rewrote the sexual harassment guidelines, to omit kisses by first graders.

The kiss in New York City, on V-J Day in Times Square, now THAT was a kiss! This picture was plastered over newspapers in the name of peace, love, and hope.

In 2003, Britney Spears and Madonna ended a musical number with a French kiss that outshined the MTV Video Awards show.

I cannot leave out the most famous kiss of all of history. Judas Iscariot used a kiss to identify Jesus Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane. The high priest Caiaphas paid Judas 30 pieces of silver to betray Jesus with a kiss.

I seen the video, and it all seemed to be pre-staged between them. I think many of the celebrities do it for publicity.

Wow...yes, that last kiss from Judas was the kiss of betrayal or kiss of death. It makes we wonder, didn't Judas understand that Jesus would be resurrected? Great write. I just love Sandra Bullock. What a very classy lady indeed. I can STILL remember my first kiss, as a 3rd grader with my "girl" behind the alley of her home. Wow...Great work.

Guess I'll have to kiss the Miss America pagent good-bye after I make this comment. "Kiss, Kiss, Kiss, all you want, just do it in private". Don't force your private points on innocent children.

Aaahhh-- is Mr. "John Q. Public" reading something into this particular "kiss" because there IS something there... or because they WANT something to be there????? Great write with some very good points.
