The Knight, Dragon, and Maiden

An Epic Love Story. Full of Action, and Romance

David Fitzell
There was was a knight named Gabriel. He was a brave knight. He would fight dragons, he would fight in the front line for his king and country. Gabriel was very brave, he loved to fight and he loved glory. There were many ladies who wanted the knight Gabriel for he was very handsome; but Gabriel had not met a woman that he believed could deal with his dangerous lifestyle and he wanted a woman to love him for him and not for his heroic past.

Gabriel was talking to his good friend, David the King, of the Lands of Porter. It was a just land, very beautiful and exotic. Gabriel explained to the king about his thoughts and concerns about meeting the perfect woman. David told Gabriel that the right one would come along some day and not to worry because she will be perfect in every way. David explained to the knight that he believed that love was a chemical imbalance and that chemical in his brain would lead him astray.

The King sent Gabriel on a quest to find and kill a dragon in the north lands. The dragon had been eating the peoples cattle and a few of the people too. The dragon needed to be stopped.

Gabriel set off on his quest to the Northlands. He took his sword, some food, and his horse. It was very early and Gabriel had been traveling for just a half an hour when he came across another traveler who looked like he had gotten a beating. Gabriel asked the man if he was alright and the man said he was and so he headed back on his way.

Gabriel had traveled a full day and was approaching the small village of Brant. He decided to set up camp since it was starting to get late and he wanted to get rested up before his epic battle. Gabriel set up his camp, ate some jerky that he had brought along on his journey, and went to sleep. When Gabriel woke up, the light was barely visible, and he packed up his camp and ate a little more jerky and headed into town.

When Gabriel arrived in town, he decided to head over to the tavern to ask about the Dragon. Gabriel entered the tavern and a shady looking guy was sitting at the counter drinking an ale. Gabriel approached and asked the shady looking guy if he knew anything about the dragons activity. He moaned and spilled his drink a little and said nothing. The bar keep asked Gabriel if he would like something to drink and Gabriel said he does not drink this early in the morning. The bar keep said that he had overheard what I had asked the shady looking guy. He told Gabriel that the dragon had been on a rampage and that it had killed 2 of the towns people and many of the towns peoples cows and animals. The bar keep went on to tell him where the dragon was located and that if he could stop the dragon it would be a heaven sent.

Gabriel decided to go find and destroy the dragon. He was not going to waste any time and allow the dragon to kill again. He went outside and mounted his horse. He was approaching the end of town when a shy, petite damsel approached him and his horse and said "Are you the one that is going to take care of the dragon problem?" Gabriel replied "News travels fast over here in this part of the country."

She explained to Gabriel that her brother had ventured into the dragons Lair and had stolen the dragons egg. He was going to show it off to the town to show how brave he was but before he had a chance the dragon started killing. Gabriel asked the woman for her name and she replied "My name is Trinity." Gabriel asked Trinity if she still had the egg and she told him that she did and that she had been hiding it to protect her brother because if the towns folk knew what her brother had done they would for surely hang him. She went on to explain that she did not want to tell Gabriel either, but hope was running out and she had no one else to turn to. Gabriel asked Trinity to take him to the egg and she did as he asked. They arrived at the egg and he took it and carefully placed it in his bag. He assured Trinity that everything was going to be OK and that he would slay the dragon.

Gabriel was back on the road headed toward the dragons lair again. He was starting to feel the adrenaline and was thinking about the woman Trinity and how beautiful she was and he had gotten a very nice vibe while talking to her. Gabriel was finally there at the dragons lair, he was standing in front of the cave of the dragon lair. Gabriel yelled "DRAGON!" and a blast of fire came racing out from the cave. The dragon roared and said back in a fierce voice "leave now or you will surely face your doom." Gabriel said in a stern voice "I have your egg. Come and get it scum." The dragon leaped out of his lair and said "You are not the one who stole my egg. Who are you, human?" He said" I am Gabriel. I am a knight and was commanded by King David to exterminate you for killing the cattle and villagers."

Gabriel got an idea. He carefully took the egg out of his bag and laid it on the ground and slowly walked back. The dragon swooped in and grabbed the egg. David had slayed many Dragons but never one this size, never one with this much brute force and he knew that if he was to fight this Dragon that he would meet his demise. A few seconds later the dragon was back ready to fight. The dragon said "Is there anything you would like to say before I destroy you?" Gabriel replied "I do not want to fight you. I have found your egg and returned it to you unharmed. I will ask you for a truce and the villagers would like a truce as well."

The dragon grabbed Gabriel and took him into his lair. Gabriel knew, then, that this was probably going to be the end of him. The Dragon set Gabriel down on a ledge that was around 60 ft high and said "Why should I trust a human?" Gabriel explained that if a truce was met that he would talk to the villagers and that the dragon would be under his protection/ The dragon laughed. "Under your protection?Hah!" Gabriel went on to explain that he was a knight and that people would listen to him, and that the villagers would leave him alone.

The dragon agreed to the truce and said that as long as she was left alone that she would not harm anymore villagers or their animals. Gabriel stayed with the dragon for 3 days talking with her and learning things about dragons. On the third day Gabriel got ready to leave the dragons lair and as he was walking away when the dragon appeared and said "Thank you, Gabriel, you are truly a great knight and you leave me not as a foe but as my friend." Gabriel replied to the dragon. "Thank you. I will always look at dragons differently and I also consider you a friend."

Gabriel arrived at the village and went to Trinity's house and explained to her what had happened and that her brother and the village would be safe and that he had made a truce with the dragon. Gabriel asked Trinity if she could get the towns people together so that he could talk to them. She agreed to his request and quickly left her house. Trinity came back to her house a few hours later and told Gabriel that the towns people were ready for him. Gabriel got up and started to walk out of Trinity house. Trinity grabbed Gabriel's hand and said "Thank you very much.". Gabriel embraced her and gave her a kiss meant for the angels. Trinity was speechless, she knew by that passionate kiss that Gabriel was the one for her.

Gabriel talked to the village people and told them about the truce and how the dragon agreed never again to attach the village as long as she was left alone. The towns people were very happy and told Gabriel they were going to throw a party for him. Gabriel declined the party and explained that he needed to get back to his king. You could tell that Trinity was not to happy about the decision that he had made. She grabbed Gabriel's hand, and Gabriel looked at her and said "Come with me my fair maiden. I know that I have not known you for long but I know that you are the one." She smiled and agreed to accompany him back to the kings castle. The next morning they were on their way.

Gabriel told the king all that had happened and he was glad to see that Gabriel was OK. The king blessed him with a nice home and lands.

Gabriel and Trinity were married 12 months later and they ended up having six children and were very happy together. Gabriel stayed in contact with the dragon that he had met and they were very close. They all lived happily ever after.
