Too scared to open the door, he waits
Wonders who would want to see him that day
When days have turned into weeks of silence
The knocking carries on until the old man asks
Who is it and what do you want?
A woman replies, "it is me dad, its Sue
I have come to see you, please open the door"
It takes time before the old man comprehends
And slowly he makes his way to the door
Still unsure, he opens the door to Sue
"Dad, I know it has been a long time"
Not used to visits he stays very quiet
Leaves her to talk, relive his memories
"I did not know you were alive", she says
"No none told me, recently found out"
He feels sad, but can understand why
Always a loner, he had left years ago
Only to be found by his child
So full of life, so full of his lost spirit
His face slowly breaks into a smile
He starts to talk, about times gone by
So much to share, so much to say
It has been a long time, too long a time.....
