The Know it All

A Poem

Harriet Steinberg
The know it all
Knows everything
He likes to talk about
The things he doesn't know about

He knows how to make
You believe he does
He likes to build facts
Out of proportion
So people will look at him in awe

The know it all
Knows how to talk assertively
So the foolish things
Sound real

The know it all
Knows how to fool people
Some will believe him, some will not
Some will go to googles to find the truth

My father-in-law was like that. He believed he was an expert on all subjects but I loved him anyway.

I know many people who are know-it-alls! It is so draining to hear how perfect and smart they think they are while they look down at everyone else.
