Do you remember Daryl Brewer? He was the NBA star Tasha spotted at the underground party she attended with Alice. She was watching television while Tasha was preparing to meet Beech and discuss the hearing and Alice notices Daryl on the screen. It appears that a basketball player has come out of the closet; Daryl was asked how he feels about the matter that, according to the reporter, was the first time for the NBA. His response to the news was homophobic and very unsupportive thus upsetting Alice who, with the use of TiVo, replayed it for Tasha who expressed the same. Wishing she could tell out him herself, Tasha knows that's not possible. Planting the seed in her head unintentionally, Alice feels that it's her duty as a proud lesbian to expose Daryl for the fake straight man he is.
The next day Jenny, Niki and Adele are in the studio dressing room where Niki is trying on various dresses that may or may not represent the role of Jessie (Jenny). Niki talks about her past relationships while Jenny looks on. She disapproves of one of the dresses and Niki asks Adele what she thinks. She gives Niki a compliment and Jenny slyly insults Adele saying her opinion doesn't matter. She looks at Jenny rather hard but doesn't say anything, trying to laugh it off. Out of nowhere, Niki asks Jenny if she has a girlfriend to which Jenny says she doesn't because she needs to focus on her work.
Shane's cruising around and stops at SheBar where she sees Cindi working. She notices Shane and goes over to the car and they engage in a flirty conversation. Shane compliments the business and notice they have drive-thru service, something Kit was talking to Dawn about. Cindi invites her over so she and Dawn can give her an encore of their first night to which Shane smoothly accepts.
Some time after setting up the play date, Shane's in the kitchen cooking and is startled by Adele who slams a box of glasses on the table. Adele apologizes and sees Shane baking and says she was going to make some calls to get some goodies for the party and Shane tells her there's no need. She's making party brownies and when Adele asks what party brownies are; Shane turns to the bag of weed she has on the counter thus the explanation of party brownies. This sparks a memory for Adele who shares that there was a next door neighbor who had a pot farm and her dada was a fireman always calling the police on them. Catching Max's attention he calls her on the fact that Adele said her father was a traveling salesman. She's able to weasel out of it by saying that he volunteered for the department on the weekends. She excuses herself to get things ready for the party.
Alice stops by and sees Adele walking out the door to decorate and hellos are exchanged she goes to kitchen where she sees Shane and Max. Alice compliments Adele about how sweet she is and attractive. Shane agrees but in a nerdy sort of way. They go on until Max expresses her dislike for her. Alice wonders why and Max says that she's not who she pretends to be and Alice shoots back by saying that he's one to talk. Alice says she has something she wants to put on OurChart and shows him the phone she used at the underground party.
Max and Alice are in the shed putting the finishing touches on her podcast. After taking one last look before posting, Max asks Alice if she's sure she wants to go through with it. She's more that sure; a hypocritical gay man shouldn't be allowed to be in the closet and say such homophobic remarks. It's a smack in his face too, whether he wants to admit it or not.
Shane arrives at Cindi and Dawn's place and learns that it was Cindi who wanted Shane all to herself. Even with the vibe change, Shane respects the code, all or nothing. She stresses to Cindi the rules that she and Dawn established and insists on Cindi calling Dawn and getting over now. Cindi tries very hard to sway her by telling her that its ok and everything will be fine. The more apprehensive Shane gets the more persistent Cindi becomes. Shane truly feels this is wrong and again asks Cindi to call Dawn. No longer able to resist Cindi's advances, Shane gives in and takes Cindi on the couch - one on one.
Alice stops by The Planet asking Kit if she knew about SheBar serving breakfast and coffee; they even have a drive-thru window. Kit says she was talking to Dawn about the possibility of doing that for The Planet; of course she's not happy about the news. Speaking of the news, Max calls Alice to tell her that her podcast is going to be featured on the news and asks Kit to go the channel. Next thing you see is Daryl Brewer with his family having a press conference where Daryl's apologizing for his actions and says that he will be spending some time with his loved ones and will seek the help he needs. That's not all people, not only has the podcast gotten an estimated 500,000 hits on YouTube; she got 500 new messages!
It looks like things are going well with Niki and Jenny; they are becoming fast friends. Jenny loves Niki's idea of Sounder being in the movie and they approach Tina and Aaron with it. Tina explains that it can be difficult at times working with animals and thinks that maybe Sounder's not ready for that. Jenny feels otherwise and plans on getting temporary papers for him to act; she and Niki, very giddy, go to production to get things going. Aaron is surprised to see well the girls are together; Tina lets him know that Adele made it happen. She humbly accepts the credit and expresses that there was a personal connection with Niki and the character Jessie. She also knew how important it was to have Niki in the movie. After receiving praise from Aaron, Tina takes a moment to talk to Adele. She wants her to shadow Jenny in making sure that things run smoothly with the movie. Should there be any problems Tina wants to be notified; for the benefit for the movie and Jenny; Adele agrees.
Alice tries to get in touch with Tasha all day to no avail. She's letting her know about the podcast has become bigger than expected and she's being pursued by the news networks. There is a news program calling wanting her to appear as well as other news organizations wanting to talk to her. She needs to know what Tasha wants her to say on the air.
Bette calls Tina at work to confirm picking Angelica up for a weekend; she is masking the true reason for calling her. Tina asks if there's anything else and Bette says no and takes it back. She goes into the situation with one of Jodi's students and how the Board of Directors is now involved and you can see that Tina is not trying to hear this. Continuing on, Bette says Jodi wants to talk to them herself and she feels that may matters worse. Tina tells her to let Jodi speak for herself; she's a very capable woman. Basically telling she to be there for her and that's all she can do. Bette apologizes for talking her ear off and Tine says she's ok. Annoyed enough by the phone call, Tina ends it with telling her she has a meeting and needs to go. They say goodbye and Tina walks off upset.
At home Shane is doing Jenny's hair for the party later on and they talk about the girl playing Shaun and say that Adele is taking care of things for the party as Max walks in. She asks how things are going with Adele and Jenny loves her; saying she doesn't know what she'd do without her. Max makes mention that she did a background check on Adele and noticed an inaccuracy between what Adele tells them and what he found. Both Jenny and Shane feel that Adele is a sweetheart and Jenny really doesn't want to hear bout this before a party. She then puts Max on the spot by calling for Adele telling her what Max has done. He says he was doing some research for Alice and stumbled upon some information relation to her mother's medical care; making Adele uncomfortable.
She shows some understanding and offensiveness towards Max. She explains the situation with her mother being transferred to a more secured facility after she tried to commit suicide. Holding back tears she continues to explain herself and excuses herself to finish hanging the lights for the party and Jenny says it's ok. Giving Max a look and Shane giving a snide remark making Max feel bad about what he did.
Alice appears on the news where the anchorman comes down hard on Alice who is adamant about her choice to expose Daryl. The anchorman tries to turn it around on Alice who first does not like that she's being cut off and successfully gets her point across. She expresses how gay people are bashed, harassed and killed everyday and if there are gay people who choose to live in the closet she can respect that. However, here is a man who is gay himself, living in the closet and saying homophobic remarks. He feels he has the right to say what he said and she feels otherwise, he's a public figure and he should be setting an example and that's not the way to do it.
Bette tries very hard to get out of going to the party but Jodi really wants to go, she wants to dance. Bette reluctantly gives in and they of course go.
As the party gets underway, Jenny greets Niki and a friend. Jenny quickly takes Niki by the hand gives her the tour of the house. Shane talks with the actress who'll be playing Shaun and she's very tense and tells her she ahs a boyfriend; Shane says ok. She's "gay for pay" and Shane finds that to be cute and walks away. Do you blame her?
As the party progresses, Tina and Bette are talking when Isabella comes by to say hello and sees Bette who finds out she is the actress playing Bev in the movie. Bette is not only angry about Jenny's view of her, she's flabbergasted that Jenny would cast a white woman and wonders what Isabella could possibly know about her. This makes Isabella ask if Bette's black; Tina is floored by what just happened.
Bette goes over to Jodi and tells her she wants to go; Jodi's enjoying herself and wants to stay. Bette accuses her of flirting with the 'Helena clone' and Jodi tells her that the girl is straight, has a boyfriend and was telling her how lesbian sex works. Bette says she's leaving, Jodi says fine and she'll see her later.
Bette storms out to go home and Tina catches up with her to apologize about Isabella and the subject changes to the kiss. Tina says she's sorry about the kiss and that it was a mistake. Bette continues to head home and Tina stops her by asking if she's in love with Jodi, Bette says she is and goes home.
Shane and Alice are in the kitchen eating the party brownies; Shane offers some to the actress she was speaking to earlier and she quickly declines and ruches past them. Shane tells her not to worry, the brownies aren't gay and ask what if they were; she and Alice laugh hysterically. And that's when the party gets crazy.
They are doing tequila shots and eating more brownies. Rocking to the Jackson 5 and having a great high time, Dawn and Cindi crash the party. Dawn tries to get Shane's attention but she can't be heard through the loud music so she yanks it off getting everyone's attention. Dawn is there to confront Shane about sleeping with Cindi without inviting her and Shane, very high, let's Cindi know that she said it was ok. Of course Dawn doesn't believe that to be true; the girls are laughing at what's going on due to the party favors to which Dawn is unaware. Thinking that she's not being taken seriously, Dawn declares war on everyone in the room, even Jenny. She also says that The Planet is done and it's on.
After that madness the party continues; Niki and Jenny talks about recreating the moment the latter met Marina (Karina). They go in the bathroom and the result is better than what we saw between Marina and Jenny. They go into Jenny's room and find their way to her closet and have a hot love making session while the other party goers have a wild time outside by and in the pool. Bette trying to sleep is aggravated and calls in a noise complaint.
Tasha makes it to the party and Alice is happy to see her telling her that she's been calling her all day. The mood shifts when she's confronted by Tasha about the day's events involving the podcast and the news broadcast. Tasha argues that this may hurt her case and Alice calls a hypocrite. She says that Tasha didn't want her to stop living her life and when she outs Daryl she gets pissed about it. She goes on to say that Tasha chose to live in the closet not her; she has a right to whatever she wants, out whoever she wants, says what she wants and loves who she wants because she's an American. both feel they can't be around each other and part ways.
Adele cleans around the house and ends up in Jenny's room where she hears and then sees Jenny's closet slightly open revealing her and Niki having sex and not making it known she's there. She looks a little upset and walks out. She's one step from Single White Female if you follow me.
Jodi finds and stops a very drunk Tina from possibly driving but she says she was calling a cab. Jodi takes her next door to Bette's so she can sleep it off; Tina doesn't want to stay but she ends up on the couch. Before realizing what's going on, Bette is attitudinal towards Jodi. She says she had a good time and Tina got really drunk and brings a glass of water to the table for her. Bette is frozen as she looks at her current girlfriend tend to her previous one. Jodi says she couldn't let her drive and goes to get a pillow. Bette looks like she wishes she could comfort but she instead goes to bed; leaving Tina to sleep.
