The L Word - Sensual Liaisons

Episode 2 of the L word started rather interesting. What is up with the guy wanting all the girls having sex through the film? Bev and Shaun or Bev and Helen together; I agree that will never happen.

Shane seems to have bounced back into the swing of things. Looking as smooth as ever she gets a great last minute gig, thanks to Jenny, to do the hair of Mr. Halsey's wife and daughters. With her foot barely in the door, she already flirts with the Mrs. and it is of course reciprocated. That's just the tip of the iceberg, during a conversation between Madison and her sisters Shane somehow gets involved in it and questions rise. They ask if she's ever been married - no. If she has a boyfriend - no. Then you can see the wheels turning in their heads and the ultimate question, does she have a girlfriend - not anymore. So obviously she likes girls and Shane proudly says she does. This really gets Gina going. You can see it all over her face that she wants a piece of Shane. Let's just face it, every girl that crosses Shane wants a piece of her. We see proof of this fact in a series of encounters between Shane and the wedding party. Especially Mrs. Halsey, who saw Shane checking her out and was so turned on by it she wants Shane to ravage her. And what kind of person would she be if she didn't satisfy that hunger that William isn't giving her? The interesting yet hilarious twist in all this is while Madison's sisters are looking for Shane they hear mommy moaning and walk in her getting the same exciting feeling that they both felt when they were with Shane. Great line from mother - "Shane needs a woman who will take her places she's never been, not some twerp who barely knows how to tongue kiss." Giving the opportunity for Shane to hightail it out of the house with them following her in hot pursuit. She finds Jenny and hops in the back of her car and tells her to drive off and Jenny speeds away with the Halsey women still chasing and screaming for a waving Shane. Now that's keeping it in the family.

Tina, it seems, is having a lunch date at The Planet with a great looking woman named Denise. Who became the unlucky one to listen to Tina go on and on about Bette and how they want art to be in Angelica's life and how important it was for them to find an artist as the donor for their baby. Not just any artist a top notch artist. You can see it on Denise's face that she's not trying to hear about another woman when she's trying to hook up with Tina. Then Jodi shows up with Bette, who takes it upon herself to go over to their table to say hello and invite them over to join them and Alice. Denise declines saying that she has to get back to work; Tina accepts and says she'll be there momentarily. If this is trying to get back into the dating game, she's doing a horrible job at it. You don't go on and on talking about your ex and putting them on a pedestal. Denise made and excellent statement - Tina has some things to figure out. She's didn't even catch that. There is some small talk about Tasha being back home and Shane not taking action about WAX going up in flames; they too think Paige had a hand in it.

Helena seems to be getting adjusted to prison life. As it looks no one has strong armed her or anything. That was until she dropped the soap. Tough inmate Jackie was ready to claim her as a member of her gang by telling her to click up. Then its Dusty to the rescue claiming Helena as her own. Dusty is developing a soft spot for her when she sees Helena crying. Later on, Kit comes to visit Helena who schools her on the hard knocks of being in prison. If you are a Pam Grier fan then you'll agree that she was in true form walking down the prison hall like the toughest woman in the yard. Who better than the original inmate from Women In Cages to give prison advice to Helena? That is gonna go down as one of the coolest scenes in television. The connection becomes more evident between Helena and Dusty when they find that they share a love for Dorothy Dandridge and her performance in Carmen Jones. The deal is sealed when Helena awakens Dusty from a nightmare and calms her with a kiss and they consummate the underlining attraction towards each other.

Alice gets the lowdown on why Tasha's deployment to Iraq was delayed. She's under investigation for homosexual conduct. She explains to Alice that she sought counsel from friend and fellow soldier Beech. When she explains what's going on you see his demeanor change and he kinda brushes her off. She's trying to get through to him by saying that she could use a familiar person to help her and he fires back that a case like hers is hard to fight because in most cases it turns out to be true and then she must decide on what she needs to do. She feels there's nothing for her to decide; she dedicated her life to the military. Tasha has worked her entire life to get to where she is and she doesn't want to let that go. Beech says to her that if it does come out that the homosexual conduct is valid she would be forced to leave and ask if she can understand such a terrible end. Tasha finds this to be unfair to have to hide who she truly is for a government that will not accept her for the dedicated soldier she is.

Bette, Jodi, Alice and Tasha are out having dinner and the loving affection that Bette and Jodi are sharing is unsettling for Tasha and Alice takes it upon herself to tell the girls to cool it because of Tasha's pending case. This upsets Tasha and with good reason. It is not Alice's place to tell them what's going on in Tasha's life. It's apparent that her heart was in the right place but as Tasha told her, she decides when people should know her business. Alice is trying to understand and make sense of Tasha wanting to be a part of an institution that does not approve of who she is. Despite all that, she knows that being in the military is everything to Tasha and she is everything to Alice; she plans to stand by her and she wants things to be ok for them both.

Joyce is so smitten with Phyllis; she brings her flowers to the office. Phyllis is appreciative to this but she tries to let Joyce down easy. She goes on to tell her that even though the idea of them being together sounds great she's just not ready to get back into a long term situation. Joyce takes this as Phyllis needing time to be on her own two feet after divorcing her husband of nearly 30 years. Phyllis hits her from left field by asking her is she was fine with seeing other people. Joyce doesn't want that and is angry when she finds out that Camilla wanted to go out with her. If you remember, Camilla and Phyllis met at her coming out party that Joyce threw for her. Later in the evening, they are at the same restaurant that Bette and the others are and Phyllis is trying to end things with Joyce but she's not having it. She went as far as to say that she's rich and great in bed and that she's good for her. Not long after Tasha and Alice head home, they leave with Bette and Jodi, after Jodi gets Bette to go to her place for a change. Phyllis tells Bette that she has tried to break it off with Joyce but no success; she's advised that sometimes you have to break up with a lesbian more than once to get it through to them.

Tom, Jodi's interpreter, waits outside the locked unisex restroom at The Planet and Max enters in and they wait together only to discover that two giddy young ladies leaving the bathroom. You can only imagine what happened in there. Tom quickly becomes attracted to Max and lets Jodi, Bette and Alice know about the sexy guy with the blue eyes. When they discovered that its Max they let Tom know that Max used to be a lesbian - meaning he's a transman now which is a bit of a surprise to him. Tom seems like an open-minded man and may develop something with Max, which would be great since it's out in the open about Max and there will be no secrets involved. It would be nice to see Max finally happy.

Jenny is a basket case without her assistant Marissa, who quit on her in last week's episode. She's running behind schedule for the Halsey wedding and goes to The Planet where Kit introduces her to her biggest fan Adele; she read Sum of Her Parts five times and Jenny is her favorite writer. At first Jenny acts like a hot head writer and after talking with her for while she seems to warm up to her till Max lets her know she may be late for the wedding. Jenny begins to collect herself and is still stressed by not having a wedding gift for the bride. Adele, without hesitation, offers her services to help her out. Later on after the reception, Jenny decides to take her on as her personal assistant; Adele happily accepts. The start of something interesting. If you noticed, Adele seems too willing to Jenny; this could backfire. She was at The Planet as Kit said, for three days with the same clothes on reading Jenny's book. Remember the movie Misery?

As you can see, the second episode was a great one and it's getting better and better. Next week Shane is going to swear off sex, Tina gives dating another try, and Peggy Peabody returns to the scene to bail her daughter Helena out of jail but she springs a surprise of her own for mother.
